You are right, Trump, the guy who never shuts up, suddenly has nothing to say.

I already know just from the title that reading through this thread is going to be a spectacular display of ignorance and of people insisting that exercising their rights is somehow proof of guilt.

If you don't know when and why you should exercise your 5A rights or you think that Trump doing so is proof of anything other than he's exercising his rights, you need to do some reading.

I know we have lawyers on the forum. They're usually pretty happy to chime in. It'll be interesting to see if they do here.

No that's not the gist of this thread at all.

The gist of this thread is Trump touted that pleading the 5th meant you were guilty.

And then he plead the 5th.

We all know that exercising your rights is what anyone should do. It's just that Trump most definitely said that exercising those rights mean you are guilty.....and then he exercised those rights.

He said something stupid and that's the end of it.

Trump was to be deposed by lawyers from New York Attorney General Letitia James' office as part of a more than three-year civil investigation into the Trump Organization's finances.
Trump said in a post on Truth Social earlier Wednesday morning that he would be "seeing" James "for a continuation of the greatest Witch Hunt in U.S. history! My great company, and myself, are being attacked from all sides. Banana Republic!"

Trump's past comments on the 5th.

Trump has had a lot to say about the Fifth Amendment in the past.

“You see the mob takes the Fifth,” he said. “If you’re innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?”

Another time, he said, “Fifth Amendment. Fifth Amendment. Fifth Amendment. Horrible.”

During a presidential debate, he said,

When you have your staff taking the Fifth Amendment, taking the Fifth, so they’re not prosecuted, when you have the man that set up the illegal server taking the Fifth, I think it’s disgraceful.
Good for him. These corruptocrats started abusing their powers within government ever since Trump won the repub primary in 2016.

No surprise here, Donald Trump is all about buffoonery, his parietal and frontal regions of the brain are null and void.

Yes he is. However, THE AG will need enough evidence to convict or in this case to kill off Trump's Real Estate business.

It's like they live in an alternate universe.
The alternative universe is the one "we've got him now, he really did break the law, no, we swear!" Democrats are living in if they think there is any legitimacy to their accusations. The nerve of Democrats, after the Obama DOJ lied on the FISA warrant, then spent 2 years on the mueller witch hunt, to say Trump is a threat to democracy? Ha. More gaslighting.
The way Trump has been treated, any human would have just given up. Not him. Look up juggernaut in the dictionary, his picture might be next to it. He cares so much about his country he is going to expose himself to 4+ more years of abuse.
In a perfect world there would be artists carving a fifth president in Mt Rushmore right now, but we know the world is far from perfect.
Look at who is in the white house.

Just remember after the mueller report was released, hollywood liberals appeared on TV with a dramatic ad imploring readers to JUST READ THE REPORT. They couldnt just say what page the evidence was on? If it was in the report, why did you have to drag mueller into the capital to testify? What happened then?

Thats right. "Now, we really really really got him. For reals. Simon says."

The first thing a judge will say to a jury in jury instructions in a trial is the jury may not infer anything when a witness or respondent invokes a Fifth Amendment right.

What the Fifth Amendment says is no person "shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself". The courts have expanded that right to civil cases such as this one. The State (government) cannot make you testify. That is a bedrock of American civil rights.

Of course innocent people use their Constitutional rights, it is ignorant, naive or disingenuous to say otherwise
Yes, he has this right.

But what's so ironic is that Trump had insisted that an innocent person won't take the fifth:

“The mob takes the Fifth Amendment."
“If you’re innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?”

So he is by his own definition, a criminal. That's what's interesting about this.

Pleading the fifth under a lawful and proper legal proceeding, sure. But what Trump has been subjected to since 2017 is a miscarriage of justice, and he should observe his Right to remain silent during the use of these Satanist tactics to crucify him as their political enemy

Wow.

I don't believe you're naive enough to believe that the justice system has treated both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump equally. You're smarter than that, and you're more knowledgeable than that, which leaves only one possibility - the one I can't say due to local rules.

I hate to rehash old stuff, but this can be done rather quickly. Hillary Clinton destroyed evidence which was under subpoena. That's it. That's all you need to know. Ignorance of the law (her excuse [oh, you wanted emails about the grandkids too?]) not only isn't an excuse - SHE'S A LAWYER, so it's not even a possibility.
