For non-compliant enemies of the state. Of course 5 million isn't enough. The rest will be taken care of via gas vans and death camps.

Healing? We're nowhere near the point where people are looking at healing. We're at the top of a downward spiral IMO.

Nothing short of a EMP inflicted upon the US will heal this country.

I always hear this reason, and it was a cause, but it doesn’t really explain the Civil War clear enough to me.

First of all, Northern white men were racist, too. Most weren’t true advocates of black men. Most didn’t really care about the slaves. But what Northern leaders did was try to dictate policy in the South, and the South said no, we are leaving. Breaking up the Union was the real reason the bullets started flying, not slavery of and by itself.

So the Civil War really happened because the South seceded.

What the South should’ve done is stay in the Union, but declare themselves sanctuary states that will not recognize free black people. If they would’ve done that, slavery would’ve stopped a couple decades later all on its own without a war.

But that’s why I don’t think we will ever have another Civil War, because states have the power to just ignore things they don’t like. If DC abolished 2A, many states would just ignore it, but they wouldn’t secede.

The key to our Union not dissolving and not having Civil War breakout is to give more power to the states. If California wants illegal immigration, let them have it. If they want to let violent criminals out with no bail, let them do it. If they want homeless in the streets, let them.

If Texas wants guns, no abortion, and no vaccines and no lockdowns, let them have it.

There will be no national healing or coming together, not ever again. But we can coexist together in states that are vastly different.

What we really need are checkpoints between states that are ideologically opposed to each other.

The mega-chasm between the two sides, is very deeply embedded, ideological
in nature, fully unbridgeable.

Think Hatfields vs McCoys on steroids.

So yeah, nonstarter.

I fear it's too late. How many posts have I made talking of meeting in the middle. Nobody's interested. There is no common ground, or ability for reasonable discussion left. The bridges of compromise are destroyed, with a trickle of people trying to cross the ruins under fire - like in Ukraine. The hatred of those we disagree with is all that is left.

The government, it doesn't matter who's in control, both parties are only interested in repression and creating an authoritarian police state. It is ALL they do.

Trump, Biden - it doesn't matter. WE all end up the victims. Both parties have spent 50 years stripping our rights. Gun rights, gay rights, women's rights - our right to privacy. BOTH parties have taxed us into the poorhouse, put millions in prison for non-crimes. BOTH PARTIES have allowed the core productions necessary to maintaining an independent state to be outsourced to our ENEMIES for 40 years. NEITHER party has done anything to effectively shut down the invasion of foreigners that started in the 70's.

OUR ENEMY is NOT each other. It is the Federal government. If we could stop fighting each other we might stand a chance of removing the biggest threat to democracy, freedom and happiness. It is ALL of us, the American PEOPLE - against the tyranny of an out of control police state.

Ok, rant over, carry on.

1. No dehumanizing opponents. No calling Republicans "MAGAts," no calling Democrats "libt--ds." In WWII all of the countries Axis and Allies dehumanized their opponents to make it easier to hate and easier to kill the enemy. We must always recognize the humanity of humans. Speak out against this, especially when your side does this.

2. Turn off media that makes you angry or seeks to rile people up.

3. Get out of the echo chamber. If you read/watch/post about the news, look at multiple sources not just the sources that make you happy/secure in your beliefs. Most Americans can't accurately describe the motives and positions of the opposing party....including most that think they can. This is what scientific studies say.

4. Most people in the opposing party are good people if you get to know them. The problem is we don't want to too often.

5. Seek out political compromises knowing that each party won't get 100% of what it wants.

6. Don't be afraid to vote in moderates.

7. Look inward to avoid hypocrisy. If you are outraged when the other side does something, don't excuse it when your side does it too.

8. Don't divide people up into groups or make superficial judgments about groups.

9. Love and serve your neighbor as you would have happen to yourself.

What do you all think? Where am I right, where am I wrong? What would you add?
Fair election process, media returns to become the people's watchdog and democrats and DOJ agency heads arrested for attempting a coup of a sitting president.

Or we need a justice system that doesn't favor one person over another. That would be a good start as well.

# 4 I take exception, most Trump deranged people / hard core leftists are NOT good people. They kill babies, for one thing.

#5 - show me a democrat who compromises on ANYTHING.

# 6 There are no moderates who can win. And in any event, define moderate. Trump was really a 3rd party guy -a business guy - not a politician -- unfortunately the democrats decided to try to overthrow him in January of 2017 with a never ending witch hunt that continues to this day.
