I don’t think this is repairable. I simply don’t like, want, or agree with the Democrat vision for our country and I resent this two-tiered system of justice, in which Democrats get away with anything and everything, but the rest of us are held accountable, sometimes to the extreme.

However, I will say that social media has been a net negative for our country, since it’s a way for people to know what other people think about every little thing, 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. I’ve taken a step back from it myself and it has been very nice, even though the risk of disconnecting a bit is … ignorance. But maybe a little bit of that can be a good thing sometimes.

The establishment doesn't want healing and peace. So if people continue to take their cues, healing and peace will never come.

The same goes for some on the right - but they don't have the platform to effect a large part of the culture as those on the left.

Look OP, I think this thread is very illustrative of the problem. People aren't willing to accept that they themselves might be partly responsible for the divisiveness in our culture. It's the other side's fault. If only the other side were to change, we'd all be better off.

You missed one step.
First thing to do is delete the entire P&OC forum. That should be number one.
After that, I dont have faith that people will get out of the trump ether for at least the next 5 years.

abolishing the racist, divisive Democrat Party would be an excellent 1st step into healing.

We cannot “heal” as long as 30 to 40% believe that America is evil, inherently racist, and that you can become any gender you choose. As long as the border is wide open to people who won’t or don’t assimilate, we cannot unite.

We will never be united as long as certain groups are taught to loathe other groups.

What united us before were things like a common language, a common belief in American principles, a common purpose (often war). We haven’t had any of that since 9/11.

More to the point is that it benefits the politicians to have us divided. They feed on that, use it, manipulate it, and use it to fuel their own power and wealth.

Government is too large and justice perverted. Get real.

First, some people are so consumed in the world their media crafts for them that they are unwilling or unable to see their neighbors as good people anymore. That's a big problem. I don't really know how to fix that.

The problem it's core, I believe, is that we are lonely, we are losing institutions that unite people, and this is affecting our mental well-being. There are no more bowling leagues, or Knights of Columbus halls, or book groups, or unions or church groups.

My crazy idea would be for the federal government to provide tax credits for people who organize or engage in group activities. I believe, if we weren't yelling at each other on the internet over politics, and instead engaging in activities we each find pleasurable, we would find it easy to make friends with people of differing politics. It used to be that way. Instead, we self-select, choosing only to engage with people with similar politics. I do it too. I think this only serves to divide us further.
You miss the point. The government wants government to be your god.
