Yeah, we'll just close our eyes and pretend it's just a cold and everything is normal. The ignorance and stupidity, particularly of conservative americans is just incredible.

Not to mention the total lack of consideration or compassion or respect for others who may get sick or be killed because you will not take basic precautions is reprehensible. Together we could have controlled this disease. But instead the ignorant right chose "mah freedom." Well choke on it. I have nothing but contempt left for those who refuse to take any mitigation efforts to protect others.
So you wanted harsher lockdowns like China eh? How’s that working out now in China ?

The stupidity of liberals is beyond explanation. They loved the lockdowns because it gave them an excuse to stay home locked into fake social media friendships and away from family and friends the never had.

Of course the CDC will relax Covid guidelines. We are in a far better place now vs when the pandemic started with no tools and a lying president. We've had two presidents with Covid now. One was in serious trouble and in the hospital, the other just had to isolate. That should tell you right there how serious this bug is. Even the two most protected men on the planet were not safe against this highly contagious SARS virus.

What's the difference now? Paxlovid, vaccines, access to the right masks.

Worldometer is reporting that 6,449,589 people have died from Covid world wide so far. There are still 593,557,442 confirmed cases in 228 countries.

Unfortunately, 429,000 people have died from Covid since vaccines became available, and is still the leading cause of death in our country.

We are still wearing N95 or KN95 masks because my cardiologist doesn't want me getting Covid again. He is trying to keep my two bad heart valves going well into my 80's when he suspects that I will need replacements. They only last about ten years and he said he sees me going into my 90's. Multiple replacements are not recommended.

Young people need to go out there and keep the economy going. People like me have to stay isolated. It stinks, but we live the hand we are dealt.

Biden lead us to this moment just like he said he would.

What did he do... specifically?

Trump drove the vaccines and probably got them done too quickly... but he got them done - as he said he would - before he left office.

When COVID first hit, the Public Health Officials said that we should maintain a six-foot distance from other people and avoid gathering in crowds and wear masks. And I listened to them and obeyed them, because I thought that Public Health Officials were selfless public servants who were not swayed by politics or cultural forces but instead thought only of The Science and how best to protect the public health.

Yeah, I know. Naive.

My eyes were opened when George Floyd happened, and people started gathering in crowds to protest and riot. And the Public Health Officials, those selfless men and women of Science, said that it was OK for the crowds to gather, because Racism was a public health emergency, and therefore it was good to gather in crowds for the purpose of protesting it (which, apparently, consisted of looting shoe stores). My eyes were opened wide, in disgust, as I saw the Public Health Officials jettison any sense of objectivity and go back on all their COVID-prevention rhetoric, just to appease the gods of political correctness and cast their lot with the protesters. And far too many government officials, the same ones who would arrest people for gathering together to pray to God, let these protests and riots go on with nary a finger lifted against them.

They lost me after that. I don't listen to them anymore. I don't care what they say about COVID or Monkeypox or anything else. They have no credibility in my eyes. Their pronouncements mean nothing. They can stick it where lack of sunshine is the norm, if you get my drift.

If you want to know which side destroyed public trust and confidence and turned people against COVID mitigation, take a look in the mirror.

Must suck being scared all the time. This virus was not controlled anywhere regardless of "precautions" including but not limited to mask wearing and physically locking people up against their will.

Whatever side of the fence you are on - this is the proper take if you are being objective.

Not only did they say BLM protests/riots were ok, they came up with a “study” showing that they helped slow the spread.
