Makes you wonder if the FBI and the Biden administration are looking to re-classify some things after the fact??

They also took documents that were covered under attorney/client privilege, which is a clear fourth amendment violation.
Doesn't matter if they are declassified or not.

What matters is that they are government property, and TFG had no right to any of them. Period.

Why did Trump take government documents with him and why didn’t he turn over everything back in 2020. Why did it take several meetings and requests to get the documents returned. DOJ didn’t want this fight but Trump obviously did, it feeds into his fund raising and galvanized his base. Now the GOP is doing the same, feeding the fire.

At least they are not waiting 18 months to figure it out.

So why did it take the FBI over a year to want them back?

Why didn't they just subpoena him to return the documents like he has with everything else they've asked for?

Apparently, they just wanted an excuse to rifle through Melania's lingerie.

The FBI only recently got involved because Trump wasn’t cooperating. They did subpoena him back in April but once again he didn’t comply. It’s absurd that Trump is going to this extent.

Not specific to this issue, but if security a concern, nothing beats paper. A piece of paper is a physical thing which can be secured and controlled. A digital document will eventually be made available to someone without legitimate access to it, either through an act of negligence or deliberate hacking, and there are people trying 24/7 to get to it.

That would be a lovely change of pace, even if half the country would not believe it anyway.

Why would anyone pretend to know what goes on in another person's head?

Are you suggesting there's no point in doing any investigation to ferret out political motivation where it doesn't belong?

Why didn't they issue a subpoena when Trump has complied with all requests and subpoenas regarding documents?

Why did the FBI tell him to double lock the storage of those documents instead of demanding their return?

What does it matter if it was hard copies or a thumb drive?

Wasn't it -- you have to return the documents and until you do keep them double locked?

Makes sense.

Then Trump didn't send the documents -- so they had to go in and get them.

And what does it matter if it was a thumb drive or hard paper.

And what does Trump want with the documents?

Trump is blinded by his own ego and infatuated with his self-defined privilege and persona. He appears to be quite stupid to think he can waltz off with classified documents and not think that the government was going to come after him. He never thinks things through to their natural outcome. Just being Donald Trump is not a shield against prosecution or a license to do anything he pleases without consequences. He pulled this on January 6 -- not considering what the outcome was going to be. No presidential advisor would have told him it was just fine to take personal possession of classified documents. Even his family would not have told him it was okay. He simply did this on his own and now is once again playing the victim. His minions look pretty silly, again, trying to tell us he did nothing wrong.
