Irony Flag On - - -
The Amazon Rainforest, assumed to be a "natural" and "omnipresent" feature, was once riddled with farms by preColumbian Indigenous People (Indians) who relied on anthropogenic soil- "Terra Preta" -to overcome the acrisol's infertility.
The culture was destroyed by virulent diseases accidentally brought by Europeans, resulting in the rapid reforestation of former farms.
Archaeological evidence remains, in the form of deep pockets of Terra Preta, that show the extent of the farming culture in the Amazon basin.

I think you missed the part where the trees were felled to plant wind turbines. No trees will be growing back.

Soon to be known as the Amazon Prime Rainforest.

The article says that the trees would’ve been cut down regardless if there were wind farms or not as they were part of the lumber industry.

However, they can’t replant because the turbines will be in the way.

Bottom line here is that electricity produced by wind is horrible for the environment when you take into account all the factors. Is it better than fossil fuels? If it is, it’s not by much.

Cant they just put it over farmland which is already barren of trees?

Thing is, whenever I see shows or UK, Ireland, Wales, etc, you will hardly see any trees. The British Isles is small, they farmed a lot of their land already.

In fact, I remember reading somewhere, the Brits cut down all their biggest trees to make the Navy the most powerful way back then. So they had to look elsewhere like the Baltic States for the wood. This is back in the day when ships made of wood.

That's one of the things I laugh about. Their energy solution is based on what God (whom they don't acknowledge) provides in sunlight and winds.

At the end of all this, I'm going back to favoring fossil fuels. Chopping down trees and destroying the environment to save the planet? Pffft!
