You are kidding, right?

The news media is not about "news", it is entertainment.

Everyone finds good looking, young people more entertaining than fat, old people.

Did you ever wonder why Victoria's Secret models are not old and fat.

The media doesn't create the interest. It just fills the market that is created by the public.

And yes, people know about stuff that isn't carried in the mainstream media. As always with missing persons cases, the truth is usually in the comments below news articles, or in websites used by the public.

If MSM didn't report on these cases, there is still a huge info machine geared to feed the public's desire for details of missing/murdered blond girls.

Reportedly she'd been drinking a lot at the party and possibly even using drugs.
Right. It appears to be purely accidental, with no one involved but herself.

And the interest, because of that, has gone to zero.

Very sad BUT does anyone notice how these stories are only heavily reported when it’s ayoung pretty and skinny blonde?

Uh-huh.

Remember how many young, pretty, skinny blondes were rioting in the 2020 "Summer of Love" riots all across the country while the cameras rolled.

It seems to be random to me because you’ll have one story that only gets local attention while others get national attention. I guess it just depends on if some journalist picks it up and presents it to their editor.

How many interesting cases we have that only get local coverage and a car wreck in New York that should only get local coverage gets national attention. Obviously NYC local news becomes national news Bev that’s where all the news media is.
Yes, that's true. In many instances, one might think they're watching a local NYC station instead of national news.

I remember the Sierra Lamar case well. They caught the guy who killed her, but they never got him to reveal what he did with her body.
For certain cases like this one, I'm okay with a return to using thumb screws.

Who says all missing people can’t get coverage when stuff like this happens? In fact, people of all colors get coverage in circumstances like this. If you don’t think they get enough coverage then write your local news and demand it, or create online coverage.
How generously callous of you, Katy. Inferring that parents or family members are to blame for lack of media coverage because they didn't demand more is ludicrous.

Your erroneous thought process plays a part in the bigger issue - the presumption by the haves that the have nots start at the same gate. They don't.

Everyone over the age of 20 who hasn't lived in a cave raised by wolves knows that.

Abducted young dark skinned girls, middle-aged, dark skinned girls and old dark skinned girls do not get the same news coverage as white girls of any age.

Anyone who believes that we are all created equal can agree that this is an unfair state of human existence.

Ask any mother of a missing minority child who suffers through YEARS of nonstop coverage for a Natalee Holloway while her own child's coverage is a mere blip knows how painful it is when her child is not treated as "valuable" as someone else's.

Ever.

On the other hand if some "promising young athlete" who is black is killed outside a bar at 1 AM they can't talk about that enough, either.
Yep, Everybody reports on it even CNN, MSNBC, the View the Alpabets. I was watching a predominantly Black show reporting on it, then the next week complaining about shows covering "missing white woman" Syndrome? They were the fricking show giving it so much attention
