Hey, I'm all for people getting a chance to be helped out of debt but there should be compensation for those of us who chose not to go to college knowing it was a money trap.
Why should you receive compensation for something you chose not to pursue? If anybody deserves compensation, it's those who paid for their educations while their peers who borrowed have their debts forgiven. That said, I'm not convinced the imagined forgiveness of school debt will amount to much. Some, like the aforementioned ITT Tech students, may receive relief, but I think those who are imagining more are mostly kidding themselves.
People who are having difficulty paying back their college loans, are getting them paid off for free by the government?
My son just finished paying his college loans off (and they weren't little). Will the government also "forgive" his loans, and pay him back the amounts he has paid to the lenders?
If not, why not? Has the government decided to punish the people who worked hard, scrimped and saved, and paid back their loans on time... while rewarding the people who didn't pay their loans back?
