I am a Purple Heart veteran and I have VA mortgage loan. Should Biden forgives my VA loan first?
I'd much rather see Veterans get loan forgiveness. They took time out of their lives to serve for our country. What did these individuals that took out these student loans, and didn't pay them back do for our country ?
even if they were to forgive all the debt, it still doesn't solve the problem
1. college is expensive...there is NOTHING that can be done about that...you will not get professors to work for free
2. they students had high expectations, then don't get hired, or don't get a 6 figure job at entry level, because of a tight market, poor grades, and probably a poor credit rating, or a bunch of other reasons
3. if congress (POTUS can NOT do this by EO) was to wipe the 1.7 trillion if todays student debt...what happens in another 10 years... lather, rinse, repeat
3. Here are some simple solutions. Tie interest rates to exactly what the feds rate is. It makes no sense that a poor student has to pay a higher rate than the banks who already have money and are just trying to make more. Also state funding of higher Ed should return to prior levels.
And it was a campaign promise he made to a generation of voters. I have two kids in the generation this affects, and trust me, and they have been watching and waiting for this.
Why is it that all these current ultra radical right wingnut boobs act like only Democrat college students are benefiting from the loan aid, do they believe there are no republican college students because they're not smart enough for college?
It doesn't matter how many times you bring up the PPP loans that were designed to be forgiven. It won't change the fact that Biden's plan for student loan forgiveness is a terrible idea.

I've not heard that accusation. The problem is that it is subsidizing a random subset of people. What about the person that takes out a $20,000 loan to begin a landscaping business? What about those who join the armed forces, in part to avoid taking on debt? What about those who scrimped and saved to pay off the student loans they agreed to pay? This is a terrible policy decision. It also creates a moral hazard for both borrowers and colleges.

Republican plans to give free handouts to business owners are ok.
Democrats plan to give a little bit of help to regular working people is not.
Please explain why? Also do not argue “people chose to take out student loans it’s their responsibility”. Businesses can file bankruptcy to get out of their obligations, student loan borrowers can not. So why is only one group subject to responsibility? I have had employers short me about over 10k in the past 3 years, but they can also withhold recommendations or give me a bad one so it makes it hard to fight, especially with legal fees. Business owners can be just as irresponsible as college students, so why are the loan standards different?
