Yes, I remember a story about 7 or 8 years ago in Georgia where the food stamp cards were down for a couple days and mobs formed, protests occurred, etc.
The government has turned them into wild animals. It's like a junkie that has been given daily heroin and the dealer is now pulling the carpet out from under him. Like a cornered animal. In a way, it's like we pay the government (through taxes) and they pay the "animals" so that they don't go postal.
Right, the facts are that folks are bilking taxpayers out of their money.
Maybe instead of being mad at poor people, you should be mad about the qualification process for benefits. Be mad at the govt for having too low of standards to qualify and for forcing you at gunpoint to pay for helping people eat. But honestly the standards at least in FL really are pretty strict and the amount received is not excessive.
Why would it be the one day for most of the welfare folks? What do they do when everyone else is at work? Why does anyone living off the efforts of others have a right to be mad over an inconvenience of a charity handout?
Again with the belief that people who get food stamps don’t work.
Yes, they do have a right to be mad when the way they needed to feed their family that week is fruitless. You take for granted that YOU might have transportation, a backup credit card, and other times you could go instead. I’m just asking y’all to put yourself in the shoes of a person who doesn’t have those things. And again, I’m not condoning the display of anger in any way, just saying I feel for a person who genuinely needed their card to work that day. For me, there have been times I went to do my grocery pickup - which at some times has been 45 minutes each way - and they messed my order up to the point where I couldn’t get it (this happened many times in 2020 due to staffing issues) and I had to go home without my stuff, with 5 kids in tow. I completely get how much of a drag it is to have to go back. At least placing my order again was easy, but these people who were shopping in person and their cards didn’t work were SOL.
We had to go shopping today, we went to two different stores for various items
You wouldn't believe the screaming and yelling by all the people with EBT cards. The poor cashiers were being screamed at by bat s**t crazy people. There was NOTHING that could be done because the system was down, They didn't care, they wanted their ENTITLEMENT!
I've been to broken ATMs, closed gas stations etc. I never beat up on cashiers!
Come on people, get a grip!
"People Furious as Welfare Cards Stop Working"
I hope they are furious enough to go out and get a job and get OFF welfare!
These are people who are living on a shoestring. And when you shop with a SNAP card, you have to do it very carefully, and it takes time. Likely time that someone who is possibly working more than one part time job and raising a family doesn't have.
Would it have been too much to ask for the stores, especially those with a large SNAP customer base, when they realized the problem, to put a sign at the entrance that SNAP cards are down right now?
