Throwing money at the problem isn't going to fix it. This needs to be a policy change based on economics. I guess this is a case where more moderate politicians would be helpful.
You are so right OP, this is Vote Buying or Bribing. Vote for us and we will pay down your debt! Of course the Dems have been toying with the Black Voters by talking about Reparations when they start to wander away from the fold.
The thing is with this stupid and costly idea is, does it have a start date and more importantly an END DATE ?
If Biden is willing to pay off debts say up to 10 years old when does he shut off the taxpayer tap? Students that are still in or entering college today are accumulating debt. When they graduate in 2026 along with their Diploma will they be handed a check from the Government for $10,000 or more?
How dumb and wasteful is this student payback scheme? The Dems are pandering for votes at the countries expense. IF what the Democrats are peddling for our future was popular they would not have to be bribing people for their votes.

Not every proposal is designed to pass but at times merely to serve as a wedge manuever to promise something and then when it doesn't get passed you still have the wedge but none of the hangover of actually causing even more inflation.
P.S. Before anyone starts yelling, this doesn't refute "vote buying" as it's still an attempt to get good will but with no intention of paying the bill after getting the vottes.
More proof biden is well on his way to destroy the economic foundation of the country to 'FUNDAMENTALLY CHANGE AMERICA, as his socialist predecessor and novelty election winner promised.
So we see an act that appears to defy logic. as we apply different scenarios to try and understand what Biden is doing, we finally conclude his plan is the destruction of America, as we know it.

You're misunderstanding the situation, Mathguy. There's nothing to "pass." This isn't legislation. This is the action of a dictator. Biden's saying he's going to do it unilaterally. No votes. No debate. Just a flat-out illegal move by the executive branch.
