As if the homeless situation and tent cities popping up all across America weren't a big enough sign that we are becoming more and more third world, my daily news feed provides plenty more evidence.

We had gas siphoning and catalytic converter theft run rampant in the past year+. Thieves have since found a new target and are now stealing copper from EV charging stations as well in CA and NV.

Thieves on mopeds and scooters snatching jewelry and handbags from pedestrians. These are the types of crimes that happen in South America and Africa.

Years of neglect of a water treatment plant in a major US city, not only leave residents without potable water, they can't even flush their toilets and have run out of bottled water to distribute. There is no timetable given for when repairs will be complete.

But yeah, we can spend trillions of dollars fighting wars overseas and send billions to arm Ukraine and have them fight a proxy war against Russia.
It's amazing we haven't revolted against this criminally negligent government of ours.

I agree we are third world, or the new definition of first world

Illegal immigration is our #1 problem in that regard. The southern border needs to be locked down and coyotes locked up in Federal prison for 20 years.

I'm sure the 200,000 people in Jackson Mississippi that are currently trying to survive without any running water, they can't even flush their toilets. Just another poor, mismanaged red state that needs a bailout from uncle Sam.

You forgot the part where democrats send government agents to go after their political enemies.

And... the party in power is letting in huge numbers of indigent and impoverished people from other countries into our country, in direct violation of the U.S. laws they are sworn to uphold, apparently in hopes of getting them registered to vote and then vote for those who let them in.

And the party in power is also actively using various "law enforcement" and "Justice" departments to attack its likely rivals in the next few election, trying to jail them and otherwise force them to not run for office.

Can't get much more 3rd World than that.

I don't see this as a red vs blue state issue. Both sides are at fault, as they are 2 sides of the same coin.

America as a whole is declining and partisan politics only makes things worse. The faster everyone realizes this, the faster we can do something about this incompetent govt of ours.

You're about a fortune cookie away from helpfully suggesting we investigate the Chinese Communist Party as a possible alternative to America's failure.

Illegal immigration from Latin America is a self inflicted wound that we are paying the price for today.

200 years of Monroe Doctrine, countless coups, assassinations, support of dictators, CIA-led drug operations, etc. have F'd up that region so royally, they have no choice but to flee to greener pastures. It's sure easier to walk hundreds of miles than to swim across an ocean.
We have no one to blame but our govt for this mess and it most definitely didn't start in this administration so cut the BS.
