Don't bother. You won't change minds. They aren't going to wake up and grasp the concept that true freedom means freedom to rise and also freedom to fall. And merit? Forget about it. Don't even bring it up unless you want to leave a welt. Merit stings them to the bone. Never forget that socialists and equity seekers are almost always non-hackers who know deep down that they've failed in life's competition and they just want others to shovel free s**t at them. They hide behind lovely words like compassion and equality and kindness but really it's just nice coat of paint on "You owe me free s**t"

Yet American blue collared workers especially in the construction industry are getting paid half of what they used to because illegal aliens have taken over it. You'd better be able to speak Spanish to get a job in construction these days to. That's just the tip of the iceberg on how these illegals in collusion with their greedy employers have taken over American jobs and/or reduced their wages.

I'll never do that again. With labor laws they really aren't needed anymore.
I worked for a union. As a female I was paid a certain amount. Went on maternity leave 6 weeks, my position was given to a guy. I returned at same pay in another area. He boasted of making $2 more than the rest coming in. I worked there 2/3 yrs. I asked the boss about it. His reply- he has a family to provide for. long story short- I got my position back with the $2 more and that mgr was transferred, the dude left and went elsewhere. Thank you UNION for defending this woman !

LOLz are you scolding me? For what? I am only stating the obvious. But since you seem to be scolding me, I will play along.

The previous rich people, who the current selection have coddled up too. Its mostly all inherited, whether it be socio-economic status or assets. Which can then be parlayed into greater amounts.

Nah, rich people nowadays are committing suicide once they make a mistake. See below.

Give me an example of a second chance within the last generation.

Or they do something sleezy and borderline illegal, or at best, something morally questionable. Examples, respectively, include Bernie Madoff and his ponzi scheme, or Zuckerberg stealing the idea, then getting his vampire squid uncle to do the rest.

Also our policies are out of whack for the longest time especially in the financial sector. That is thanks to those in the financial industry influencing our politicians into giving them out of whack advantages over everyone else.

If there is a true meritocracy, then no bailouts for the banks back in late 2000s. Everyone gets prosecuted, no leniency. You made a bad bet, you lose, whether it be your job or your house or your reputation, or your freedom

What we have now is socialism for the rich, and dog eat dog for everyone else. The GFC bailouts is proof of that.

Child Labor Laws NEVER had anything to do with “Labor Day” — which is and always has been a LABOR UNION initiative. In fact, the Child Labor Law excluded Field & Farm workers.

Agricultural child labor
However, while the 1938 labor law placed limits on many forms of child labor, agricultural labor was excluded. As a result, approximately 500,000 children pick almost a quarter of the food currently produced in the United States.

Unions are an abomination that have become the primary means for the unemployable to obtain employment.

Looks how difficult it is to fire bad cops and groomer elementary teachers.

Unions may have been a good idea at one point (before we had labor laws), but they are a cancer today.
Unions used to be about Trade Organizations in the Private Sector. They Organized for better working conditions, salary, safety, benefits. —. That is not the case today

Highlights from the 2021 data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics :

--The union membership rate of public-sector workers (33.9 percent) continued to be more than five times higher than the rate of private-sector workers (6.1 percent).

In 2021 - 14 Million people were in Unions - Private and Public.

Essentially the Public Sector Unions — Local, State, Federal are Unionized against the US Taxpayers that pay thrir Salary, Benefits and Pensions. The largest percentage is the Local Sector.

I don’t believe in a Federal Holiday for 14 Million people out of 350 Million People — particularly when I am forced to Pay for their Holiday

Lenin came and went 100 yrs ago. His stupid anti-capitalist ideas whose language you are parroting failed grotesquely. Somehow the echoes of that implosion never reached your ears.

Bingo! Pride in work = character. Working hard = character.

I second your statements. We are blessed so many capitalists too so many chances in our wonderful nation.

Don't generalize. Some unions rejected black workers, but not all.

"During the 1930s, as working conditions in the industry worsened and after protective labor legislation was enacted and put in place by the Roosevelt administration, black garment workers joined the ILGWU (International Ladies’ Garment Workers Union). There they were exposed to ideas that helped shape their worldview and their sense of themselves as workers and persons worthy of full citizenship.

The worldview black garment workers developed and the skills they honed in the ILGWU were not locked in place, but were transportable. Radicalized by the labor struggles of the 1930s and the ideas they were exposed to, black garment workers in New York took the skills they developed in the ILGWU into the burgeoning civil rights movement of the 1940s and 1950s."
