Have you ever smoked. If not then talk to the people who do. Many professionals have smoked for years and have no problem doing their jobs. It’s a calming effect. And no one has withdrawal if they stop. Trust the people who have been smoking it for decades
My response was to the issue of addiction.
No one who smokes the modern, high-potency marijuana at work has no problem doing their job, unless their job is playing guitar at a blues club. And even then, there is some doubt.
Or rather legalization saves people billions while avoiding more harmful pharmaceutical drugs.
Given that most Americans support legalization I think it's safe to say that pharma lobbyists and politicians willing to take their money are the only things stopping it now.
"Just one US state legalizing cannabis can cost the pharmaceutical sector nearly $10 billion."
"Another recent survey, published in the Journal of Pain, found that around 80% of the adult cannabis consumers surveyed had used cannabis as a substitute for some kind of pharmaceutical drug, most commonly opioid painkillers. When asked for their reasons behind this substitution, the majority of respondents felt that cannabis had fewer adverse effects than the pharmaceutical equivalents, while still successfully managing symptoms"

What we are seeing among these pot users are very interesting disease entities. The most interesting is intractable nausea and emesis due to heavy pot use. The only way they can alleviate this is to soak in baths or cease using pot. We have also seen an uptick in COPD from pot users, increased depression, and obesity.
BTW- "The Journal of Pain" is a crap medical journal. If you want good quality medical journals, stick with NEJM, JAMA, and Annals of Internal Medicine.
