Louis Vuitton is refusing to pay near $43,000 to the city and county of Portland.
They suffered large losses during the riots because the police did not protect them.
I think they are out of pocket 700-800 thousand due to the riots.
The way I see it is they paid for a service that they didn’t get.
I’d be upset too.
What if a person or a business hired a contractor for a service that the said contractor did not do?
Should the contractor still get paid?
Portland probably doesn’t want a real court to hear this case because they have a great chance of losing and the precedent that this could set would be a game changer for the far left liberals.
Those in charge continued to lie and call these riots peaceful demonstrations.
I think more companies should get in on this.
This is one way to end some of this madness.
Thoughts?
Way too many people see tax as a punitive measure to "get the rich." In actuality, tax is SUPPOSED to be a fee for services rendered by the government. When the government is not rendering services, they should not be paid.
Where does the money used to pay law enforcement come from? The Taxpayers (both commercial and individuals) alike. The city of Portland allowed the animals to have their way and destroy, loot, and burn at will. They instructed their police to stand down. Damn right the company should not pay those taxes and fight it bitterly in the court system.
louis vuitton owes the tax and has to pay it just like every other business or homeowner in portland. no one i know gets to forgo paying their city tax obligations due to having a theft or being physically attacked in their home.
if doing business in a city like portland and other cities that allow riots or have lax shoplifting laws, theft is a cost of doing business isn't it?

Well you don't plan "no police force" when you make your projections about theft do you ?

Plus their losses were INSURED.
Can I sue the city for a flat tire and rim damage due to an unrepaired pothole?

It's brilliant, and it's what needs to be done to combat this madness.
Nothing gets people's attention like money.
