Why should the penalty be for false accusations of racism? (crimes, school)

The player should be suspended. The coach fired for doubling down and fine the school. Can BYU sue Duke? This hoax is affecting recruitment to the school and money for boycott games.
There’s just been so many of these cases. You can pretty much destroy anyone’s life you want by labeling them racist. The racism accusations are being used to push tribal divisions and falsely malign all white people. Even the most innocent of white people, like Mormon kids, are being accused. I firmly believe we should treat these false accusations the same as we treat actual hate crimes. What say you?
I’ll add something more. The media who shouted the false racism claims from their bully pulpits need to start being equally loud against those who are found to have lied about the event. The Duke girl needs to be thoroughly shamed in the press.
the thing with criminal sentences, they want the prisoner to repent, to feel bad about the crime. I dont care if he repents or not. any sentence over thirty years is a waste of money. so anything over thirty years, lets just go ahead and put them to death too clear some space.
Im a big fan of the death sentence, its stops any chances of redoing a crime on the spot. 31 years for rape, crank up old sparky be done in two weeks
There is a person at my school that teaches that only whites can be racist because racism is prejudice plus power. #1 that isn't the real definition but the left constantly pushes new Orwellian definitions for propaganda and #2 it is silly and victim expanding to say that only whites have power.
I first heard that argument about 30 years ago and every single time I've ever heard it the person saying it is a hateful supremacist type.
But if they want to teach something that is completely at odds with how the entire US govt. views reality then you can't fix the insanity of a racist.
There should be civil penalties that restore financial and reputation losses (defamation) to victims of false accusations. Beyond that, you get into a slippery slope that could potentially affect our ability to criticize politicians. And believe me, they are just looking for an excuse to infringe on our First Amendment rights.
False criminal accusations (resulting in criminal proceedings) should be met with swift and severe criminal penalties.
