A simple solution to the homeless crisis : require all elected officials to live in a tent, in the midst of other homeless for one week every month.
(Can't bring any amenities from home, nor body guards)
San Francisco represents perhaps the greatest failure of governance in the country, and with this failure comes enormous waste, inefficiency, and dysfunctional politics. Beginning with providing tent living for the homeless, which costs about $61,000 per individual per year. This is not a typo. Not one too many decimal places. Remember, this is San Francisco, which squanders money at a rate that makes your head spin. San Francisco’s enormous spending on homelessness has worked about as well as throwing gasoline on a fire.
The city’s 2020–21 budget for the Department of Homeless and Supportive Housing is about $852 million. To put that in perspective, Sacramento’s city budget is about $650 million, which covers all public services for their population of over 500,000.
San Francisco estimates about 8,000 homeless living in the city. The $852 million budget works out to about $106,500 per homeless individual. Just imagine how much medical treatment and housing could be provided at that level of support. But how the budget is spent would be comedic if the problem weren’t so tragic. https://www.hoover.org/research/only...public-toilets
I'm not shocked it will take that much money to clean up the city. This problem has been talked about for the last few years - or at least mentioned - here in the CA threads. There's always those who come along and try to squash the conversation by throwing out a red herring to distract or derail the thread. But no matter ... because the problem still exists.
I don't feel one bit sorry for the city and their dilemma. My grandparents lived in San Francisco and, as a child, used to spend a lot of time over there enjoying all San Francisco had to offer. I wouldn't go back there now if you paid me. Sorry. I loved SF at one time but what it's become is heartbreaking to see. Actually, I'm getting to feel that way about many places in CA. I wish people cared more but I guess it's a different generation now.
That was interesting to watch! Looks like they did not have traffic laws, coz people are not staying in any lanes. also funny was when the car is driving to the left across the tracks when a street car is about to come at them!
After dealing with the Comanches I'm sure if Hays were resurrected and voted back into office.... he'd have no trouble cleaning up the Tenderloin district lickety-split.
Back then, they had people that would pick up the horse poop because it is the best fertilizer for gardens after it's composted. Can't say the same about human poop. Too many diseases in it so no way to recycle it except may be to turn it into bio-gas.
