Former member of the ALA gave up my membership about ten years ago. Even then the forums were leaning very left and this was reflected every day among those I worked with at several different Libraries. I think it was the discussions on removing the N word from Huck Finn that put me over the line. No Librarian should ever be supporting revisionist History to comply with modern viewpoints. A subject which greatly concerns me today with the advent of the Digital Age. As it is becoming increasingly easier for those with power to change our very history with a few strokes of a keyboard.

Probably the greatest example of ignorance is the banning and censoring of Huck Finn. Joe was the best person in the book. It was almost subversive for the time.

In my kids' schools I was very active in the media centers and got to know the media specialists/librarians really well.

Even the most conservative ones did not support banning books in general.

Librarians are one of those professions that any good prosecutor or civil defense attorney will automatically strike from any jury. Same goes for public school teachers, government employees, and unemployed people.

Of course not. It's liberals that are in favor of banning and canceling speech they don't like. Where have you been the last ten+ years?

The real "woke" part of the story is the ALA electing this person the President. If that doesn't scream "virtue" I don't know what does because I've noticed the woke will go out of their way to find the most, I want to say non mainstream person to put in positions of power to 'stick it to' whoever they consider their enemy. Maybe she's great at being a librarian but should keep her politics out of it since libraries already gifted us with drag queens I think they've stepped in it too much already.

I just use the library to reserve books online and pick them up/drop them off.
