Meanwhile the communist left in America are conducting a long term strategy of insurrection to undo the constitution and bring in a socialist order.

If the royal family paid their own way I could understand continuing the tradition. Having taxpayers support an already ultra-wealthy family seems wrong to me.
Because they, until "they" decide otherwise, have chosen to. Easy peasy.

There may very well be a discussion in the near future of stripping them of some of those costly perks but one must also consider how much tourism dollars they bring to the country by people just wanting to view the history up close. You cannot take a step anywhere in the U.K without stepping on hundreds of years of history.

It's not like the U.K. is a dictatorship, should some member of parliament put forth a motion suggesting the Royal Family is no longer able to even just figuratively "Reign" over the U.K. and it is supported by the members having polled their constituents as to their desire for or against, would you care to guess what would be the outcome?

Old news. There is always someone wanting to end the monarchy. It might happen at some point, but I think people like the perception of continuity that comes from a ceremonial head of state. The PM serves in a more volatile environment. QE2 had 15 prime ministers, and some were screwballs, but she provided a public perception of stability. What or who would step in if the monarchy was abolished?

There are also plenty of capitalists in the UK who describe themselves as ‘republicans’ aka anti-monarchists. The role of the monarchy in UK civil society has been debated for centuries at this point, leading to the current status quo.

Given what a mess the UK government has become under Tory leadership in recent years, I don’t think too many folks really do want some sort of big change to the monarchy until things seem to stabilize there for a bit.

well, I'm not a UK citizen or taxpayer, so it really matters not to me personally. Any legal tradition they want to maintain is theirs to decide.

the woman served 70 years, right?

Think about the advances that have occurred in that timeframe. It's not like it was suggested 20 years ago when the ruler changed, and it's not like Parliament suggested "Hey, why don't you step down, Liz?"

Not a fan of young communists, or old ones either, but I don't care about the monarchy. Elizabeth was an embodiment of history but now that she's gone I don't know why it would continue.

Yes, because last I checked Americans aren't funding the life of the Vanderbilts, Rockefellers, Busch, Du Pont, Johnson & Johnson, etc. families.

The monarchy has enough, time to abolish it and have them pay their own bills.

Most Brits respect and enjoy the royals. It's the ugly "tear it all down" idiots who cannot tolerate anyone different from themselves.
Don't like them? Don't like the pomp and circumstance?
Then don't watch it. Sit down and shut up.
Isnt it up to the UK people? Looks like 62% are for it. Support declines at lower age tho.
