I just watched Appollo 13 again, and remembered the great patriotism, and feeling of unity we all had during that mission.

I think this could help us heal as a nation.

No. Both sides detest the other side. Space missions will not erase that.

It wouldn't hurt, but it'll take more than that. A string of positive events have to unfold. Stuff that makes all sides go, "What's there to be so angry and bitter about this place? Things are good." Kinda like the mid-late 90s.
