We have posters defending the teaching of porn to kids in public school.
Unreal. This is the lowest of the low.
Absolutely. How wonderful it must have been to live in the renaissance or "age of enlightenment," where academia actually aspired to greater knowledge and discovery rather than seeking to revert back to Neanderthals.
Which shouldn't exist at all in an academic setting.
1) Nothing to do with teaching the "three Rs."
2) Nothing to do with teaching the "three Rs."
3) Nothing to do with teaching the "three Rs."
That's the job of the lazy-assed parents, not the school system, which needs to be restricted to academic topics (you know, math, English, science, history, art, etc, etc, etc)
The first sex ed class I had was in 6th grade in 1969. It was pretty graphic. The classes were separated into boys and girls.
School has never been just about teaching the 3 R's, there have always been additional topics and classes, from health to music to homemaking to woodworking. Sex education is part of a complete curriculum. Teaching that porn is not a true representation of sex is worthwhile, and does not require actual display of porn.
Parents refuse to teach their kids about sex. That means the schools have to do it. Otherwise, we have even more girls who believe the lie that you can't get pregnant the first time you have sex, and other common untruths.
Sex Ed has a teacher talking about sex with children. I mean, pretty much by definition.
Can we agree on the following 3 things?
Porn exists.
Teen-aged kids will access porn.
Porn can leave the viewer with a very skewed idea of what a healthy sex life is.
Agreed?
The question is, do we try to equip teen-aged kids with some sort of counterweight, to filter the rather extreme impressions that porn tries to impart?
1. Sure
2. Some
3. Lol no! Not more than watching any media. Maybe we should put a disclaimer on James Bond movies that most of the stunts are impossible

So, kids during their own free time should learn about sex and porn from other kids, hopefully from those who have already been enlightened by their parents.

I think that’s the healthiest thing actually.
Sex Ed should be about educating students on contraception and that’s it.

What exactly do you mean by the teaching of porn?
