Ok, so there are people who are going to run for President and have in the past who clearly KNOW they haven't got a shot but they run anyway. What's the game? They get to control all the money they raise?

They get more name recognition for the presidential run after this one.

Then there are people who are professional office-runners. The announce their candidacy for Prez or Guv or whatever the flavor of the month is. Cash donations come pouring in, they live high on the hog, the election finally takes place, they lose, and soon they announce they are running for another office. "Beto" O'Rourke is an example of this.

Beto is the perfect example. But he can't win. Why does he keep running? He is not going to be President ever.

Sometimes they win like Trump and then scramble to put together an administration after the fact. Mostly it's a combination of Bloomberg Moneybag ego as well as an opportunity to influence policy or get appointed to some position like Buttigieg or Carson.

I think Mitt Romney actually believes he has a shot.

Sometimes, he just wants to attract attention to an important issue. Example Ron Paul

play nice to the eventual winner and perhaps get a slot in the admin.

Kamala harris ran in 2020 and was the most unpopular candidate in the history of the US. she was the first to exit with zero support - currently vice president. mayor pete is the most spectacularly unqualified person for any job, but he checked an important box even if he cannot formulate policy to save his life nor speak apart from an excessively rehearsed script. he is currently trans sec and when asked by the MSM what qualified him for his appt, he said with a giggle 'I joined the mile high club once'. so yes, running, even for a little while can get the dumbest specimens of our species, high profile jobs where they can grift to their hearts content. ITs a game and it is oft well played.

Had yes. I can't imagine he still thinks he has one today.

Pierre Delecto is a pompous ass. I have no doubt that he still believes that he will be the next President. I guess our opposing views will be settled soon enough.
