I don't care which side of the political spectrum you side with. Getting this mad over politics is beyond stupid. I guess this guy can think about that for many years rotting in his prison cell.
The linked article indicates that the victim called his mother and asked her if she knew the person who was chasing him. She confirmed that she did. I'm thinking there is a history between the victim's family and the person who ran him over. Glad the perpetrator is now in custody. It's a weird world we are living in.
I'd like to see the charges upgraded to Murder 2 instead of vehicular homicide etc. but this is ND so this guy isn't going to get a wrist slap for murdering an 18year old over a political argument.
I thought the same thing. It's second degree murder he just happened to use a car. There should be no distinction to get a lesser charge because of such a technicality.

OR, it's a tiny town - population of 64 as of the 2020 census.
His motivation appears to be that he believed the teen belonged to a radical republican group. The same vile rhetoric coming from the oval office.
Which is why in real life, I don't discuss politics with anyone besides family and friends. It is just not worth it.
I understand why people can be passionate about their political views. There are many liberal posters I respect here although I might not agree with them. Politics is an umbrella term that covers how people live together. In other words, how our entire social and economic world is organized, who has power, how they are allowed to use it, what checks and balances exist to constrain them from misusing it, etc. etc. So I totally understand why some people can be passionate about their political views.
But running over someone? I have no words.
add: You have to wonder how this killer treats his wife and children, his family and friends. Can you imagine if a woman tried to break up with him? Yikes. What a loser.
This is someone who has abandoned real religion and turned politics into his religion.

Whichever side did it, I think the death penalty may be appropriate. if we can't peacefully disagree, its a threat to the foundation of the country. Its seditious.
