to para phrase Chuck Heston, "I'm keeping my 10 year old gas powered vehicles until they pry my cold dead foot off the gas pedal."

The LEFT just salivates at the idea of controlling the electric vehicles of the peasants! They are already slowing taking control of home thermostats!

I'm waiting to see how many people start freezing to death in the middle of winter and there's no place to charge.
Will they call that a pandemic?

Now when it's time for a new commuter vehicle I'll consider an EV. Just for around town driving.
Absolutely. I'd love to have one for basic, around town driving, as long as it has a 200 or so mile range and I can plug it in overnight. However, I only have a 2-car garage and I don't want to leave one outside, and we already have two reasonably new ones.

The left hasn't convinced me to do squat and most likely never will.

If my next new vehicle is an EV, it's because I want it.

For $66,000, I can buy a lot of gas for my old Nissan that gets 37 mpg.
There are many new EV's coming out next year starting well below $40k.

KBB says the average price of a "new car" for 2022 is nearing $50k.

How long do the batteries last in EVs? Aren't they pretty expensive to replace?

I probably own my last car -- but if I buy another, I will consider a hybrid. Electric vehicles need another 30 years or so to be perfected and to have an appropriate infrastructure in place. It has nothing to do with right or left politics. The technology and infrastructure are not ready. There will always be gas powered vehicles of some sort.

How long does anything last? You could easily google it or read the hundreds of other threads on this subject, couldn't you? But you have other reasons in mind to ask that question.

There are plenty of EV's well past the 100k mile mark and going strong.
