A 158 year old law is now the law of the land, before Arizona even a state.

Quote:
A near-total abortion ban adopted before Arizona became a state was allowed to go into effect Friday by a Pima County Superior Court judge.

The law mandates two to five years in prison for anyone who provides an abortion or the means for an abortion. The only exception is to save the life of the mother. This is the law as it remains on the books at ARS 13-3603:

"A person who provides, supplies or administers to a pregnant woman, or procures such woman to take any medicine, drugs or substance, or uses or employs any instrument or other means whatever, with intent thereby to procure the miscarriage of such woman, unless it is necessary to save her life, shall be punished by imprisonment in the state prison for not less than two years nor more than five years."

So their state lawmakers should have a free and open debate and decide what they want the law to be.

In AZ this wont last long, a County Superior Court Judge is not high on the Totem pole. it should be put on the ballot and let the voters decide. Not a 150 year old law nor by politicians. :It's too divisive an issue let the people vote.

Two to five years in prison?

Oof.

Not a good time to be an obGYN in Arizona.

Among practicing obstetrician–gynecologists, 97% encountered patients seeking abortions, while 14% performed them.

I think you overestimate how many ob-gyns actually perform abortions.

It should have been put on a referendum in November.

The State Legislature is the referendum. What you are asking for is 'direct democracy'.

AZ is a Border state, Mexican vans run all day long from Phoenix and Tucson to Nogales, Mexico where one can buy abortion pills, have an abortion over there. And there's some very greedy Pharmacists over there and Doctors who will write a prescription for about anything.

I asked a Pharmacist, when I was down there a week ago, about buying Ambien, medication for sleep. He said you need a prescription, but I can save you the $$, I'll just put it into an aspirin bottle and no problema!

Hide your credit card before the Ambien Walrus pays you a visit.

I made the mistake of not hiding it once and woke up the next morning to find I ordered 5,000 rounds of .44 mag ammo and I don't even own a .44 mag.
