Does anyone know an a-hole that isn’t right once in a while?

If you have to call them an a-hole you are part of the problem not the solution. Typical of most Americans Maher is right about some things and wrong about many others. Yet most people think they are right about everything. We are a nation of poop throwers.

Its the old George Carlin line. The average American is not too sharp and half the population is dumber than that person.

I don't hate the left, I strongly dislike their coddling of violent criminals, endless victim mentality of people of color, unfounded accusation of racism towards opposition, and ideology of endless free crap.

I think it comes down to the left believes the government is the solution whereas the right thinks its the problem.

Other than that all people on the left do not believe in coddling violent criminals or any of the talking points you listed. Some sure do. Too many.

Nor is everyone on the right a racist or thinks January 6th was a nothing burger. We need to get past stereotyping each other.

P.J. O’Rourke said, “The Democrats are the party that says government will make you smarter, taller, richer, and remove the crabgrass on your lawn. The Republicans are the party that says government doesn't work and then they get elected and prove it.”

In our current dilemma, there is some all too real (surreal imho) focus on what happens once a Republican does not get re-elected.

I'm an equal opportunity hater of stupidity so I guess I don't love America because about 80% are stupid.

You did not say if you are part of the 20% or 80%. You have to be careful with that mindset. Most low intelligent people think they are smart whereas smart people tend to underestimate themselves. Its always a red flag for me when someone thinks they are smarter than most people.

I agree. The next two election cycles will test our republican. Many red swing states have put conspiracy folks in charge of their elections.

Some folks might be interested in Carlo M. Cipolla’s essay ’The Basic Laws of Human Stupidity’.
Cipolla reasoned in terms of the payoff of each transaction, arranging the possible outcomes in terms of a quadrant divided into four subsectors. One of the two agents may gain something at the expense of the other, but it may also happen that both agents profit from the exchange. The worst possible situation is the one in which they both lose something. The kind of agents who cause someone else’s loss while also damaging themselves in the process were labelled by Cipolla as “stupid people”.

From there, Cipolla went on to define the five “laws of stupidity” as (1) Always and inevitably everyone underestimates the number of stupid individuals in circulation. (2) The probability that a certain person will be stupid is independent of any other characteristic of that person. (3) A stupid person is a person who causes losses to another person or a group of persons while himself deriving no gain and even possibly incurring losses. (4) Nonstupid people always underestimate the damaging power of stupid individuals, and (5) a stupid person is the most dangerous type of person.
The Sixth Law of Stupidity: A Biophysical Interpretation of Carlo Cipolla’s Stupidity Laws

By the way, the proposed 6th law of stupidity is ‘humans are the stupidest species on Earth’.
