How is this political or controversial? Would this not be better suited for the 'weather' sub-forum?

the eastern half of our continent deals with humidity, heavy rain and flooding with evidence of unstable weather patterns traced back a millennia. Yeah, so what's new, a hurricane in Florida???????

Human caused global warming, as a time dependent existential crisis, as described by governments, has been linked to corrupted science, used to forward a political agenda.

Fear mongering is the left's forte. Every issues they push has an existential component. Except for the flood of drugs which leads the cause of death for 18-45 year olds.

Exactly and it is mother nature and has 0 to do with fossil fuels.

We also had devastating hurricanes in New York City almost 10 years ago 2012, Katrina in New Orleans 2005, 2 in Florida that postponed NFL games in 2004.

Nevermind the Asian tsunami in late 2004 as well swept onto the land.

This has actually been a quiet hurricane season.

Lol but but but it is man made climate change all of a sudden.

Mother nature is unpredictable and unfortunately bad things happen and have throughout history. There have been hurricanes, floods, rain storms, heat waves, earth quakes, you name it. Its all part of mother nature!!

Another opportunity for the Biden regime to showcase its ineptitude and incompetence.

Tampa is a blue area so Biden should be motivated to provide federal assistance, as his handlers would not be inclined to assist a conservative area of the state.

This is bad timing for the Democrats and their media propagandists- the hurricane will interrupt their efforts to gaslight the American people for at least a week. And the Democrats don’t have a week of their agitprop to spare.

Hopefully the folks in Florida come through this mostly okay. Of course they're pretty used to these types of events down there.

As for climate change, it may well prove that Ian is more intense than it would have been otherwise. More rapid intensification of Atlantic hurricanes is a hallmark of this type of influence. This isn't going away folks; we'll just have to deal with it.

I don't recall EVER, in the past, that the first hurricane of the year in the Gulf of Mexico was late September. Weird year.

In Sarasota area. The gov already declared a state of emergency and Biden already approved any funds or help needed. But none of us thinking politics right now, there will be loss… regardless of whose on the throne. Geesh

100 years without a major storm event is a damn good record for the Florida coastline.

I reread that and that was unintentionally insensitive. 100 years is a long time between major hurricanes for a coastal Florida city, but that doesn't make the situation any better. The best case scenario as forecasted, the Tampa area is going to get hit with a devastating storm surge. No one wants that.
