Wow, we all saw this coming. Didn’t even last 2 years.
I didn't see it coming because I'd forgotten who this lady was about 3 days after news of the Bezos divorce exited the news cycle, nor did I know she was re-married, nor did I care if she ever got re-married, nor do I have any idea who Dan Jewett is.
Never said he was. She's the one who quickly got remarried to a chemistry teacher right after her divorce, putting her fortune at risk in the process. (even a prenup can be thrown out by a judge)
Now she clearly looks like the common denominator of 2 failed marriages. She's a 52 year old billionaire, she didn't have the foresight to think that marrying a chemistry teacher was going to be a bad idea?
First thing they're going to fight over is money, how much needs to be kept or given away. She probably argued it was hers to do as she pleases and he probably argued that it's "their money" and requires "mutual approval" as a married couple. That's why it didn't even last 2 years.
I agree. You get once shot and that's it.
In every short marriage I know of there was deceit by one party prior to the marriage and it was always the man who was being dishonest. Why blame her when you don't know what really happened? Do you really think it was a bad idea for her to marry a chemistry teacher because he wasn't her financial equal? Where is she going to find somebody who is her financial equal who makes billions, especially at 52 years old, even though she's still attractive?
To those who think she didn't deserve 25%, I guess the work she did raising their four kids doesn't count in her being worthy of a decent settlement. Young women who are contemplating marriage should heed this as a warning; no matter what you do for your husband, including all the housework, bringing up the kids, going to work, satisfying him in the bedroom, etc. some with think you don't deserve anything if you get divorced, including your ex.
Here's a fluff piece written by a women who says she should get half. Link
Read it and tell me she deserves even a tenth.
Bill Burr is right (and I don't particularly like the guy.)
There used to be an ad on those airline magazines that were placed on the back of the airplane seats. It stated something like this: You don't get what you deserve. You get what you negotiate.
The misogamy and ignorance displayed on this thread is not surprising.
I know. Funny that on this thread I'm like some kind of radical feminist. Shrug. Generally, I just dont have a problem with communal property as long as that wealth was generated during the marriage. There are a few exceptions but this is not one I have a problem with.
Did she deserve 1/4 of Bezos' Amazon stock? She didn't put in 1% of the work Bezos did.
I can tell you without a doubt that I would not be where I am in my career if my wife hadn't been next to me, supporting me as I got an education, and then in my career. She may not have worked on Amazon, but she stood by him and enabled him to do it.
