I am at a hotel that uses Dish Network, and all of Disney's channels are broadcasting a message from the company regarding the contract lapse - stating that Disney is asking for too much and is hoping that customers put pressure on DISH to return service.

Channels are ABC, ESPN channels, Disney Channels, etc

Any other providers being affected?

I'm kinda like - whatever... but I use Fubo at home, which is unaffected.

That’s just a regular thing that happens with cable/satellite when it comes time to renew contracts. At least I remember it being so decades ago when I still had sat/cable.

First time I had seen that type of message on major networks.

Maybe a regional sports network would go off the air for a time... so not a big deal I guess

When we had DISH anyway they were considered the budget supplier and had stuff like this going on pretty regularly even with the big name channels.

I have Dish and I'm missing all those channels also. It's their annual cost savings program where they stop paying for a service and simply pocket the savings. Last year it was Fox channel. They didn't air the NFL games for almost the entire season. Did they credit the subscribers who payed for those channels? NO they just kept the money. I'll be going to Hulu as soon as my contract is up and if other subscribers are smart they'll do the same. Dish truly sucks...

This is normal, where I live it seems like it is always the local NBC affiliate that can't come to terms with Dish, Cable, FIOS etc. I always laugh because the local station starts a campaign to get residents to state that they would drop the cable provider if it doesn't carry that station, yeah right figure the odds of that....

Providers try to put each other's balls in a vice every time a contract renewal is due. This is nothing new and will likely be sorted out quickly.

It happens with DirecTV sometimes too. Usually, they work these contract disputes out pretty quickly as others pointed out.

However, sometimes these disputes are necessary. Here is a good one...Back in 2014 DirecTV got into a 3-month dispute with The Weather Channel and just cancelled it. This was a big deal as TWC is considered necessary programming. Funny thing was, DirecTV had the guts to point out the truth - 40%+ of TWC's programming is reality TV and not even 24-hour weather anymore. Overpriced for what it is. LOL. Too true. They were also accused of hyping the big storms.

They brought TWC back but considering the higher fees they charge the cable companies it's only with the higher priced packages. Now they have Accuweather and weather IS all they do 24 hours a day.

So is Dish Networks pushing back against Disney and the pedophile groomers shows now and refusing to allow them to peddle it on their program?

Internet + stream is the future. I dont watch sports. I stopped when shArt Modell took my football team to another city. There are a few services that allow me to skip the super high priced sports channels.
