We're approaching that time of year, again, and still the topic is controversial. I take the historic stance of the farmers of the 20th century: I'm against DST. Always have been; always will be. Still, this is (still) a democratic country. I'm not a poll person, believing life isn't so simple, so I ask you:

Are you in favor of DST, or against it? Why?

are you supposing that people's opinions have changed in a year (actually 6 months, the subject does arise every time it changes)?

I don’t care which one but I just want to stick with one. I hate the time changes

I thought Congress voted to keep DST year round.

I hate the changeover twice a year due to having to reset every clock on every device I have. OK, my iPhone does itself.

Why do I hate it? Because it is pointless and accomplishes exactly nothing.

How about we split the difference. Fall back 1/2 hour and leave it there for the rest of America's existence?

logistically, I prefer the longer summer afternoons to everything else involved with DST. I can set an analog watch and an oven just fine in 1 minute 2x a year. I already had to spend 15 seconds today on the watch that has a # day feature since Sept only has 30 days

How useless is DST?

As the old Indian woman said, "Only a white man would believe you can cut a foot off the top of a blanket, sew it onto the bottom and say you it is a longer blanket."

That is the thing. DST doesn't add an hour of evening daylight when it is dark in the winter so it is sunny to 5:30 pm instead of 4:30. It adds an hour to the longest days when it is already light until 9 at night. Who needs sunset at 10 pm?

One half hour time change to split the difference then leave it alone.

When I was working. I really appreciated DST during the Spring and Summer months, as it gave me an extra hour during the evenings for outdoor recreational activities or chores, like yardwork. Where I live, DST sunset peaks at about 9 pm at the start of the Summer Solstice. During the Winter, DST wouldn't provide much benefit to me personally, as not enough daylight in the evening, with less daylight hours to work with.

Now in retirement, doesn't much matter. Not operating on clock time anymore, unless I have an appointment, or something like that.

There are already some epic "daylight threads" on C-D:

Daylight Savings Time - are we in it now? What happens in 2023?

Would you rather be in permanent Daylight Savings Time, or permanent Standard Time, or changing the clocks twice/year? (high school, vs)
