here is NPR in 2012....America is one of the world's largest oil producers, and close to 40 percent of U.S. oil needs are met at home. Most of the imports currently come from five countries: Canada, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Venezuela and Nigeria. https://www.npr.org/2012/04/11/15044...y-be-surprised
Canada has been importing oil to us for decades,,they TOOK the NUMBER1 slot in the mid 90's, but even back as far as the very late 70's we got a good percentage of oil from them
Why are progressives outraged? They want to ban ICE vehicles and just passed Climate Change bills; they should be in heaven right now.

Some progressives who support the Green New Deal expressed outrage this week over the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries' (OPEC) decision on Wednesday to cut oil production.

As the link I provided shows OPEC was our primary import source prior to 2014, read the chart. What you link says is Most of the imports currently come from five countries: Canada, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Venezuela and Nigeria, the chart on your link only reflects %15.1 of imports come from Canada, less than Latin America.
And the correct phrase is "exporting oil to us.." not importing...
Maybe if the left wasn’t so against domestic energy production, we wouldn’t be in this situation.
Our Oil production is steadily increasing since the pandemic and is around a thousand barrels per day short of our peak of 13,000 in 2020. Demand has increased but it doesn't matter with this cut by our good friend Saudi Arabia, with friends like that who needs enemies. The price is set on the world market, US oil companies aren't going to sell oil at a discount to US consumers.
Are we surprised that Biden messed this up? I’m not. This idiot hasn’t gotten anything right in the last 20 months. Basically, we’re screwed and Biden is too stupid to see it. Biden is the poster boy for “failing upwards” and into the highest position in the United States. Thanks to all the Low Information voters who were too stupid to see that they were being lied too AND being too stupid to fall for every single BS gimmicks thrown out there by the media and big tech.
As for the Saudis, are we shocked that they basically told Biden to pound sand? I’m not since President Potato was talking “chet” about their Crown Prince, who is now running their show. Even when Potato flew to Saudi Arabia to beg them to increase production, you knew this wasn’t going to happen since Potato left without a commitment… So much for a win, Mr. Big Guy.
Sadly, a lot of people are going to have a very cold winter, thanks to Biden’s complete incompetence.
Honestly, if it really gets bad this Winter, I hope Trump tells the Biden Administration to kiss off and flies to Saudi Arabia and broker a deal with the Crown Prince, as a private citizen. I’d bet Trump would leave with a sweetheart deal that will not cost the American people one cent. Basically, the payment to the Saudis would be giving Biden the biggest “pimp slap” in recorded history. All the Saudi’s official spokesman need to say is that do to Mr. Trump’s love for the American people, it touched the Crown Prince and he has now agreed to increase oil production by 2.5 million barrels a day to ease the suffering of the American people.
Well, if Hunter can fly over to China, on Air Force -Two and make deals with the Communist Chinese, that enriches ALL the Bidens, including the “Big Guy,” then Trump can fly to Saudi Arabia and make a deal for the American people…. What’s the difference??
Biden lowered our oil production. Has even gone into our "saved" oil reserves in case of emergencies, Now he is going around the world begging other countries to sell us some of theirs!

Don't worry, just finance a $60K Tesla, that should fix it.

What is wrong with this picture?
How exactly did Biden lower oil production, production has been increasing since he took office.

Like many presidents before him, Biden went to SA and asked for more production but nope.
It's pretty hard to blame others or deny that it has any impact, which is why people have generally avoiding responding to that basic point here.
Saudi Arabia is the one raising prices through their actions, how is that the presidents responsibility. Yes of course Saudi Arabia's cuts in production will elevate prices not just in the US, worldwide. No one is denying that fact.
