sure

The WHO, and many other Health agencies have been recommending male circumcision for 15 or more years to help combat AIDS and other sexually contracted diseases.

Right. Because babies born in Kansas are super high risk.

Get real. That’s not why parents lop off part of their boys’ penises in America 2022 and you know it.

It’s purely cosmetic (or religious) and serves no purpose whatsoever.

No, I’m not arguing that.

But I am taking umbrage at the statement that “in a civilised society we don’t let parents mutilate children.”

Because we do.

And it’s purely cosmetic. And it is detrimental. And it is permanent.

Thers no reason why boys can’t manage their own hygiene.

I agree, that's also wrong.

But also in a completely different league than this. They still have their penis.

The biggest threat of suicide occurs 7-10 years after transition. That's a fact. Try it on. See how it feels. Your body might resist it at first, but that means it's working.

Kids are learning it FROM the adults. They are learning about it at school FROM the teachers. They aren't coming up with it by themselves.

You you want studies? Here's a whole bunch. I doubt you'll read ANY of them since they completely destroy your OPINION.

Especially when there is no approved "medical care" to transition children. There are no approved FDA drugs fro use in children. There are no vetted surgeries appropriate for children. There have been ZERO clinical trials to support any of it.

It's all experimental. ALL. OF. IT.

Which also means that no medical professional is liable for any damage. Can't sue.

There is no risk of infection. Most men around the world are not circumcised and have never experienced an infection. This is an unnecessary procedure, designed to give docs who do the procedure and hospitals money. There are some studies that men who were circumcised are more likely to have ED problems later in life.

I'm 100% in agreement with Finster that parents shouldn't be allowed to get their boys circumcised. It's child mutilation.

What I don't agree with is comparing it to removing someone's penis altogether.

I do expect a lot of Americans to instinctively defend male circumcision as it's widely practiced here. I did not get my son circumcised for example. If mother nature intended you to be without foreskin, you'd be without foreskin.

"Kansas"? Have you really talked to all people and know their myriad of reasons why they would have it done? If it is acceptable to the World Health Organization for there list of valid reasons ( from penile cancer, to std transmission, to cervical cancer in woman, to retraction issues) why should anyone listen to a blow hard online

Just for clarity, I didn’t compare circumcision to sex reassignment surgery, I disputed your comment that we don’t as a society allow parents to mutilate children.

What I would like to see is that people start recognising what a barbaric practice lopping off the foreskin is and stop doing it of their own accord. It’s pretty funny that people here raging against body modification have likely already done it to their children. Yes it’s not at the same level but it’s genital mutilation without the consent of the child. People will defend that to the hilt while slamming parents who are trying to find solutions for their kids.

I also would not have had a son circumcised, and I applaud your consistency.

I won’t allow my gender non conforming child to make any drastic changes to their body. But I don’t want the state to dictate what would be a complicated and individual decision depending on circumstances.

Any doctors who exploit the situation by pushing treatment for profit or foregoing the appropriate counseling and care prior to any procedure should be struck off.

There’s no “myriad of reasons”.

It’s cosmetic, and unnecessary.

Any myriad of reasons are simply justifications. It’s a purely cultural practice in the US, the main reason being so the child “can look like his dad and won’t get laughed at in the locker room”.

Why not wait until the child is 18 and can make their own choice as an adult? Kinda like people are advocating for trans kids.

Their risk of penile cancer and STD’s are pretty low from 0-17.
