Are you referring to New York and California?

Because a country that follows that lead will be a country no more.

End the electoral college, end what remains of the United States. Period.

Not going to happen. Not because they don't exist, but because they care more about optics and virtue signalling. There are millions who are horrified at what this senile maniac has done in less than two years, but they will never admit it.

Instead they will vote against the Democrats in the privacy of the ballot booth and like every time the pollsters will be all like "I have no idea what happened"

That's how our system is set up by the Constitution. But if you want to talk about people who have problems with the EC you don't have to go back any further than 2016. You had(actually still have) Democrats freaking out because Trump won the EC but not the Popular Vote. Again the difference in the popular vote would have been determined by the same two states I mentioned earlier.
But you seem to be convinced that the popular vote doesn't matter. When in fact it does. In the history of this nation, there have been only four presidential elections where the EC vote and the popular vote have not coincided. https://ballotpedia.org/Splits_betwe...d_popular_vote

Personally, I don't deeply care about the Electoral College, and I'm not convinced it should be abolished. But then I've been a resident of small states all my adult life, and I do appreciate the fact that because of the Electoral College my vote counts for more than my California sister's does. But then we vote the same anyway...

Oh well, lesson learned
It's easy to say that when it never happened. I remember being a young adult during some recession or inflation or whatever and my father telling me that any sitting President will get blamed or praised for how the economy is performing when they are in office when they really have very little influence, and the truth of that has played out over the years.

Here's an article on that very subject for today's situation.

Politicians on both sides will look to spin the numbers to their advantage. But the truth about who or what is actually at fault for inflation numbers not seen since the 1980s is more complex than any political talking points or anti-Fed screeds.

Anyway, let's find some potential candidates of good character and leadership ability. Yeah, I know that's a tall order, but I continue to believe it can happen. I'm not married to one party or the other.

* Generally support R policies lately although as with anything, I don’t support 100% of them.
* Not going to vote for a party that admires Socialism, wants our country to be more like countries in Western Europe, and is beholden the far left.
* I’m old enough to remember the more moderate Democrats I grew up with in the 1990s, the kind who generally loved this country and didn’t believe that we were so flawed to the point where we shouldn’t be proud of it. There aren’t many of those left, unfortunately! As an extension of that, I can’t stand the overt racism of the Democrat Party.
* Sucks, but not my fault either.
You are mistaken. The Democratic Party does not admire socialism. A few Democratic members of Congress lean strongly toward socialism, not the entire party. Don't believe people people like Sean Hannity and Tucker Carlson. They don't know what they are talking about.

Petro prices in my area are approaching $4.00 per gallon again, or $15.14 per liter, and diesel even moreso.

Crime is way up, illegal aliens pouring in with child rape and other human trafficking atrocities and fentanyl deaths and Halloween candy scares and threats of nuclear war with Russia and threats from China and North Korea and Iran on the rise and the Hunter Biden Disaster and the Recession to deal with... yeah, we're dealing all right.

Just look at Biden’s abysmal job approval rating conducted by various media outlets and you know there are a lot of buyer remorse voters

I don’t have cable at my house, so I don’t watch cable news.

However, I’m gay, so by default I have a ton of friends who are Democrats, and they generally embrace the idea of Democratic Socialism. I’ve definitely noticed how many of those ideas, which were once fringe, are now openly embraced by “regular” Democrats as well.

You would lose that bet. Only about half of Republicans want him back. https://www.forbes.com/sites/carliep...h=5d318cdcb500

Congressional leadership, both R & D, certainly don't want him back. The Rs are going to be looking really hard to find a Trump substitute, and that is obviously what DeSantis is relying on.

My personal guesstimate is that the next election will be between DeSantis and some yet-to-be-determined D. But of course we've got a ways to go.

Eric Coomer said he made sure Trump didn't win but this thread is not about that.
