Athletes are more likely to have afib than the general population.

The thing is, the guy’s a joke and a total political hack and no one down here thinks he’s competent for the job.

Yes because DeSantis hiring someone no better than a witch doctor as the surgeon general is such a winning look for the state of Florida.

Thankfully, I expect the medical community of FL will pay him no mind until he eventually disappears.

I'm "down here" and I think he is not only competent (he was a professor of internal medicine at UCLA lol) but he's doing a great job. Best surgeon general in the USA.

Much better than Ashish Jha.

I think the medical community in FL will be split. Those Docs who are prostitutes will advocate the vaccines, as usual. But unlike other states, more Docs will not feel muzzled and can openly talk to their patients why the vaccines don't meet a risk/benefit analysis for them.

Leftist snowflakes are afraid of good strong leadership, they prefer sheeple leaders.

I'm bumping this thread to compare Florida's policy to Denmark's:

Quote:
The Danish Health Authority expects that the number of covid-19 infections will increase during autumn and winter. Therefore, we recommend vaccination of people aged 50 years and over as well as selected risk groups. Read more about the autumn vaccination programme here.
https://www.sst.dk/en/english/corona...ainst-covid-19

I.e, anyone below 50, they do not recommend.

If I were setting health policy, I would recommend against anyone from getting vaccine if

a) they have had previous infection
b) if they have not had previous infection, and they're below 60

I would make it a requirement that to get the vaccine you need an Rx [can't just walk into your local pharmacy and get it]. Pregnant women, kids etc will be especially stringent, and the Doc will be forced to note what comorbidity they have to justify vaccination.

You just described our HHS agency. The head is a lawyer/politican with no medical background.
