They said they went home when Trump told them to.

You hand gasoline and matches to someone you just fired up with rhetoric and say don't burn anything down does not exclude you from responsibility.

How exactly does bad behavior by leaders on the left excuse Trump for what he did?

He told them to go peacefully.
What don't you get.
Bad behavior by "leaders" on the left is acceptable, which emphasizes my point of utter hypocrisy.

To be just, fair and impartial, this sham of a "committee" should have produced every last piece of evidence and video. They did selective production instead.

They did nothing but hire a Hollywood producer to get the emotional effect they wanted because the left is victim to their uncontrolled emotional reactions. Most of them.
Let me know when they "get him."

The lack of the request for the presence of Federal Troops was because of "optics"...Bowser even wrote a letter specifically telling the DOD not to send troops there.
There had been several other times that the National Guard had been sent in to quell rioting...and there were complaints about "how it looked" to have them there.
Of course...after the fact of the Jan 6th Trespassing/Parading Event...Pelosi had SIXTY THOUSAND National Guard troops there for 5 months.
There was even Intel that they were aware of that there could be security issues on the 6th...but they still did not fortify the Law Enforcement capabilities.
Bottom Line: Trump had authorized it, and told them to do what they had to in the way of Federal Troops to secure the area that day...but the formal requests necessary from the entities that could have implemented that were not given, and even notably refused.
Those that care to know the truth (rather than a TDS fueled partisan position) about the matter could easily educate themselves...but they typically don't.
Here, you can learn about it...a detailed explanation from the chief of staff at the Department of Defense at the time:

They already know this as these things and other things, which all have been proven time after time in this forum. They are willfully ignoring the actual truth.

They know that a day or two before the 6th, that Sund had requested the NG and his request was refused by Pelosi's Sergeant at Arms because of "optics".

They know that Trump did not wait hours to do something, he'd tweeted a number of times throughout the afternoon telling them to once again be peaceful, to respect the cops, to go home, etc. He had to tweet twice telling them to go home because they were not listening to him, just like they didn't listen about being peaceful and respecting the cops. Proving that the rioters were doing their 'own' thing.

They ignore the truth and claim what they're saying comes from the committee's investigation, which proves that they're being lied to by the committee.
