That's the actual headline. lol

Gov. Gavin Newsom recently signed California Assembly Bill 2098, making it the first state to attempt to censor what physicians can say about COVID-19 to their patients. This is a dangerous, and likely unconstitutional, effort that other states must resist.

The statute instructs that “It shall constitute unprofessional conduct for a physician and surgeon to disseminate misinformation or disinformation related to COVID-19, including false or misleading information regarding the nature and risks of the virus, its prevention and treatment; and the development, safety, and effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines.”

That is how it's always been, Republicans are lobbying for that now in relation to Abortion and Transgender care right now. If I as a doctor believe abortion is needed to save the life of the Mom I may not be able to do it if the Politicians of the state deem it so. Everyone has their preference as to what can be done or not done medically, as a society we decide those rules via the election process, not magic.

This is well understood in the medical community and why physicians, NPs, and PAs require individual licensing in each state of practice because the rules for many things are different in each state. We could cherry-pick which ones we agree with or don't all day but the point is politicians and by extension, society dictates the rules.

That is dumb. Why are the Democrats so worried about an open and honest discussion between a Doctor and Patient?

I guess for the same reason that they are against telling us the Truth without first checking the poll numbers....

We have to remember this nonsense that Newsom is gladly dropping on California if he should ever run for President.

Ask your doctor...and your doctor will tell you what we told him to tell you, or else.

Government is going to tell private practices and businesses what they can and can't say?

I keep saying this with every 'CA Is Insane' thread: I am so glad I got out of there when I did. I took 5 days to drive across the country, had one week to set up, and then lock downs happened. I'm so, so, so grateful that I escaped just in time.

It is not going to hurt these doctors. Most of them make at least 35K to 40K a month. Patients will suffer unnecessarily.

Makes "perfect sense."
Government grants physicians a license to kill without criminal prosecution, and physicians have to kiss the [bleep] of the politicians.

INCORRECT.
Under a republican form of government, where all men are created equal and endowed with inalienable rights and liberties (like natural liberty), governments cannot tax, regulate nor trespass those rights that they were instituted to secure.
BUT (in 2 meter high letters)
IF you consented to be governed by their socialist democracy, you've surrendered all endowed rights because mandatory civic duties abrogate them.
- - -
SO
If you did not consent, and retained your personal and natural liberty, you are not constrained by "rules". You are at liberty to do whatever you want as long as you do not violate the rights of another.
BUT if you did consent, all bets are off. Shut up, sit down, pay and obey.

"What I do say is that no man is good enough to govern another man without that other's consent. I say this is the leading principle, the sheet-anchor of American republicanism. Our Declaration of Independence says: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: That all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed."
- - - Abraham Lincoln, Speech at Peoria, Illinois (1854)
http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Abraham_lincoln

(Job #1 : secure rights, Job #2 : govern those who consent. Caveat : consent voids job#1. When you figure out how and when you gave consent, you might decide to withdraw consent.)
