If they are here awaiting to be a citizen, then let them work! Give them temporary permits. How many times have I seen "Hiring" signs outside of businesses? Some of the fast-food places have closed their lobby and only operated under a drive-thru because they do not have enough workers. Places are closing earlier and only working a limited amount of days per week because of the employment shortage.
When you eat that strawberry or a salad, just remember it's a migrant that most likely picked them! Some of these migrants will do work that Americans refuse to do or it's beneath them.
You don't just show up at our border or sneak into our country to work nor should that be an immigration policy that we should embrace. That's not how applying for citizenship works either.
If we truly need workers for skilled jobs then we will bring them in legally. The hiring signs you are seeing are for unskilled, low paying jobs and filing them with millions of foreigners would just create a tax burden to our society.
This ole crap again? We have unlimited visas for legal, temporary foreigners to come here and pick crops because it's not a career job for Americans or anyone else. It has nothing to do with it being beneath Americans it's about economics and careers. Since only 2-4% of illegals are picking crops it's more than likely that a migrant on one of those visas are picking the produce you are eating! So sick of this stupid crop picking argument to justify illegal immigration into our country!
There are no jobs that Americans won't do for a fair wage either! Just more pro-illegal, pro-massive immigration into our country nonsense. Many of those low paying jobs such as a burger joint on every corner should just fold up and die if they can't find Americans to do them.
In the past, armed people entering a country illegally were called INVADERS and dealt with as such. Essentially, we are being invaded by foreign countries while the democrats roll out the red carpet and the republicans sit around and whine about it.
There is nothing that the Republicans can do just as long as there is a sitting Democrat president and a Democrat controlled congress. Trump tired to do something and he succeeded somewhat while having to fight the Democrats all the way to get something done. At least our Florida and Texas governors are trying to do something to.
What right do helpless people as you call them have for trespassing on someone's property? Im not advocating shooting anyone who is unarmed but confronting them and detaining them while they are on private lands until border patrol comes is not irrational. Once upon a time a "cartel type" Pancho Villa raided US border towns and killing many people in Texas and the federal government sent George Patton in to chase him within the Mexican border. That's back when the US federal government gave a crap about it's own borders.

You're 100% right, Pershing was in charge of the expedition, but Patton was the one who first mounted machine guns on the back of trucks and used them against Villa's men.
