RSV was raging at my infant's daycare and he got it. It's a big nothingburger, just a cough and runny nose.
The only trouble is that if the media hysteria and trumpets get loud enough, the politicians will be under pressure to “do something.” That is exactly what happened during all of the waves of Covid. Russ lockdowns, masking, isolation, long lines outside stores, and other restrictions.
i know 2 families who had their little ones hospitalized due to rsv. for most it’s just a cold. if your kid is in daycare and they have a fever keep them home.
RSV mainly infects kids and it comes every year. This year seems worse than prior years. My neighbor’s kid got pneumonia from RSV. Some kids are hospitalized for it but most are fine. But a kid doesn’t need to be immune compromised to have complications from RSV. It’s good to take some basic precautions.
Forced mask wearing for two years has made kids even more at risk from normal viruses. Kids need exposure to things to build and immune system. It's just childhood stuff made worse by the people who forced masking.
This is my feeling also. I mean, what did they expect would happen to the kids?
The panic goes on, and on, and on. A ‘Tripledemic’? Flu and Other Infections Return as Covid Cases Rise (link) Now the New York Times weighs in, tabloid style.

What precautions? A lockdown?

Exactly but it looks like another depressing go-round

The more you isolate and guard kids from viruses, the more viruses will sicken them. You need to do to the opposite, let your kids socialize, play, and get sick. Because being sick is a healthy part of life.
This article, Alarming Surge In Kids Hospitalized With Non-COVID Virus Putting Strain On Hospitals(link) was email blasted three times yesterday by the local newsfeed. Similar coverage was in other publications. The article did point out, buried near the end (linked article, excerpt):The article hinted but did not say explicitlythat this is an old story. An excerpt from a 2014 article in the Hudson Valley's paper of general circulation, Journal News (link):
After Covid people's nerves are a bit raw. But it the media plumping for another shutdown?
In 2000 my grand contracted the RSV at 4 months. There were so many children in Joe DiMaggio hospital in Hollywood it was scary. They made a vaccine so not sure why it’s back. But watching that tiny baby intubated for 2 months was traumatizing. Teens were in ICU along with little children and babies. It’s a nasty virus. Nothing to play with.
When this story was on the local news, they interviewed a local doctor. He said this is very rare.
