Maybe it was a referral to the gun arguments on this forum about the 5 shot in Raleigh. Conservatives don't seem to understand about lethal weapons used in self-defense.
And yeah my mother-in-law who lives in a nice rural Ohio town is terrified to go outside because of all the fear mongering on Fox and Breitbart and others. She thinks something that happened in Chicago is now waiting for her at her doorstep. Never mind the only thing across the street from her is corn field.

Republicans have been pushing their fear mongering even more than ever. There seems to be an idea that gun owners can pull guns when they feel threatened they forget about "reasonably believes" deadly force can be used part of those laws. Pulling a gun on someone because they ring your doorbell, or sit in a car in the street is far from reasonable.
This also covers someone running away after stealing from your car you can't pull guns and shoot at them.
