This is why the Fed has been painted into a corner. We can't sustain high interest rates for very long. Inflation may be here to stay. Not 10%, but I am not sure a 2% core inflation target is realistic anymore. We may be stuck with a 2% Fed funds rate and 5% annual core inflation rate for a long time to come. We will just keep losing purchasing power.
Or we could have a financial collapse that resets everything.
Inflation should be 0. Your money should be worth the same as when you earned it.
