I don't care about this particular movie and nobody else should either since it could encourage people to dance which is a good thing. Lot's of heavy people are very nimble and athletic so I don't see that as encouraging or celebrating obesity in any way.
If an obese follower visits any partner dance event, nobody will approach her. She will be psychologically traumatized.
I just watched it, and I saw nothing to criticize. It features a child in a ballet class at the barre when she experiences a moment of self-doubt due to her weight. Reflect is not a feature film. It's an animated short, and I thought it sent a positive and encouraging message.
Disney now putting out PSA's on body positivity ????
Obesity is a health hazard as you age.
85% of those that died of/with/from covid were overweight/obese.
And that didn't even open any eyes...that startling statistic from the CDC.

I don't believe this at all anymore, too many big girls walking around with kids and their "Man" in malls, parks, and restaurants to think this way now. A lot of men out here are looking for a woman with some meat on the bone and they are not ashamed from what I see.

I think you are reading into my post something that isn't there. Have you watched the animated short? May I suggest that you not opine until you have? The message I got while watching it was that physical activity is for everyone not just those who have the approved body type.
i was at the mall recently with my daughters. we passed Athleta and Victorias Secret. the models are disgusting. the mannequins are obese. sorry, it’s gross. just like the models aren’t geriatrics. why? no one wants to see it. i too am getting to an age and body type that won’t look too good in clothes intended for fit 20 year olds
I love seeing athletic wear for all body types. What are those of us with post-menopausal bodies supposed to wear when we exercise? Baggy t-shirts and sweat pants?

It's very different at a dancing event. A slim and athletic follower can dance all night.
It's implied that an obese follower won't be able to finish even one dance.
If it's ballet, a man will try to choose the lightest partner for obvious reasons - his back will thank him for that.
Does the cartoon show the partner of the fat ballerina?
He should swear loudly trying to lift her.

Oh for goodness sake, that's not what Disney's animated short is about. It features a child at the barre in a ballet class. A CHILD, who is feeling good about moving her body until her teacher makes a comment about sucking in her stomach, which leads to a moment of crushing self-doubt. And then she regains her composure and goes back to learning to dance. I think it's an uplifting and encouraging message.
I would bet good money half the people here making a big deal about this are themselves obese. 10,000+ posts ona forum doesn't scream thin.
I am, and i think normalizing obesity is wrong. Being obese is nothing to be proud of, and is something one should constantly work on trying not to be.
