I do not depend on a job for income and honestly, with the increased market volatility things have been a bit better for me. My expenses are very low (no debt with a paid-off house). Yes, my food costs have increased but for a single guy, it is inconsequential.

But enough about me. I think the average American family has had a rough time of it. Food is up 20% or better, the cost of shelter increasing, and costs to get to work increasing. Our government is out of touch with the struggles working Americans are facing.

Heck No!
Thank sippy-cup bunker dwelling pedo Joe Obiden my IRA has been slipping as bad as he does walking up stairs.
Maybe I should have joined Nancy (The Crypt Keep) Pelosi on that inside trading she did with Tesla.

Looks like “Worse off†is leading “Better off†by a 2 to 1 margin so far in the poll. It’s also been interesting looking at everyone’s viewpoint regarding this issue.

I voted worse off but day to day I am basically the same. Inflation was bad for me as I got caught building a house last year. Lumber more than doubled and it added around 40% to the cost because of materials. On the bright side that is over so I don't need to hold back on some of that yummy $8 bread with a side of generic Raisin Bran.
I hear that. The reconstruction cost raised our homeowners insurance a bunch. A new fence was double what we paid for one side a couple years ago. But an internet search informed me that the bread we have been using for years is owned by BIMBO. Who would have thunk it, Mexican bread? Orowheat is a Bimbo product. So we search for another bread due the price being nearly 5 bucks a loaf.

Well, you are lucky you even have an IRA! I just retired and don't have one! I have to depend on SS, which I hope the GOP doesn't take away.

Whose fault is it you didn't save for retirement?

A strange question, everybody has the same answer: NO.
And you know, why.
So, why asking silly questions?

Have you read the thread? Several people state that they are in a better financial position now than they were two years ago. The reasons vary.
