If you had a company that was regularly being told by the administration that the plan is to eliminate the use of their product (for something more expensive), what would you do? Invest in a dying industry?
I would pump it until it's dry, move to a tropical island, leave the government with a huge clean up bill after the company is dissolved.

In his prime Xoe was a useless dope who lied like the rest of us breathe. He'll end up in court on this one, he'll lose, but of course he personally won't pay a price because he can't remember what happened two minutes ago much less two years ago.

I'd suggest he go out racing around in his Corvette some more, and burn some petrol, but if something should happen to Xoe his replacement is even more disturbed, clueless, incompetent, stupid and disconnected from reality than he is. And we're no better off with #3.

#4 is Leaky Leahy, talk about a FUBAR chain of command. You'd almost think it was designed that way, by our mortal enemies.

Those dynamics of the political hierarchy will change drastically soon.

I work for an oil company. I have a pretty good idea of what's happening. Banks don't want to invest in oil companies, especially smaller ones, because it's a huge risk. The Covid downturn caused a lot of bankruptcies among smaller oil companies. The large oil companies don't really use banks for borrowing, they sell bonds or finance their projects from cash flow.

Even if permits for Federal leases are slow, that's not a large portion of most oil companies' portfolios.

Economically-he's following Jimmy Carter's playbook to the T. At least Carter didn't get us in a war with Russia.

Like how he threatened Saudi Arabia with the production of oil until after the midterms, just in reverse.

We don't need Congress anymore......

Our "dictator" can create new taxes, forgive trillions in government loans, lead a war that the US isn't even involved it, etc.

WTH happened to our country ?????

No, oil companies do not pass tax increases on to consumers. That doesn't happen in a commodity market.
