A man in Norway, Jørund Viktoria Alme, is sparking backlash after being sympathetically profiled on the Norwegian TV show
Good Morning Norway, for his "trans-disability" in addition to his identifying as female. He is able-bodied, but uses a wheelchair "almost all the time" because he identifies as a woman who is paralyzed.
I have attempted to verify the authenticity but everywhere I go seems to repeat the same story.
If true, should we affirm the gender identity but scorn the disabled identity.. and if so, on what grounds?
If we affirm both identities does this represent another evolution towards trans-humanism?
Or a complete step backward towards mysticism and witchcraft?
Or is it a brazen fraud and nothing more than a publicity stunt.. or a mental illness.. or both?
(Of course one would have said the same thing about trans-genders 70 years ago, so..
)
Mods: I'd have put this in Current Events or maybe even Great Debates, but considering the subject I figured it would wind up here eventually.
