Looking forward to where the details have been written down.
I don’t believe there is any agreed upon plan.
The previous poster asked what I would do as a solution. The reply was my personal solution. Common sense actions to reduce or eliminate illegal invaders from entering the country.

And that would take both sides working together. Granted, it needs to be done, but neither party has the stomach to do it.

"At least we saved ourselves from Trump."

That will be the question from a couple of individuals who seem to not understand where we are today. So I'd ask... tell me exactly what was so bad? Sure, I get it... if I thought Trump truly was a NAZI... I'd probably do everything I could to make sure he didn't win either. I recognize that his tweets were mean spirited... but would you not have rather had mean tweets, than:
  • 8%+ Inflation (which is really more like 100% in many categories like food, etc.)
  • Lowest job participation rate since the Great Depression
  • A shaky economy... see the speakers from the World Money Show, who all believe we are entering catastrophic times.
  • A complete destruction of our energy policies, after previously being energy independent
  • A total lack of border security... leading in record deaths, both on the immigration trail and from fentanyl imports, and more specifically... over 4 million new illegal immigrants who cannot legally get jobs, but will now get resources from our food banks, hospitals, and homeless shelters, all of which are already over-taxed and underfunded.
  • Record homelessness in Democrat-led cities and counties all over the country.
  • Don't even get me started on the Ukraine war, this never would have happened under Trump. Harvard polling shows 62% of voters believe this, and they are right.
  • Which leads me to the worst one of all... Afghanistan, where I personally deployed and lived for almost 7 months. To take 20 years of blood, sweat, and sacrifice... and literally throw it all away because he's so incompetent. We will never be trusted ever again as partners in a war. Yes, this never would have happened under Trump. When Trump pulled out of Iraq, it was after we surged and completely destroyed Al Qaeda. We now maintain 2,500 troops on a military base in Iraq, in a stable nation... and no one talks about this. This is what we would have done in Afghanistan as well.

Anyway, I'd just like to know from everyone... did you expect this? I certainly expected it...

That’s exactly what I predicted but nobody listens of course.

There is a bipartisan fix for the border problem that is stalled in Congress. To believe or not to believe--it's been YEARS and yet nothing has been done. They say they're going to get more judges, build more housing for the potential immigrants to stay in while waiting a year or more for their court hearing. They SAY, they SAY, they SAY.

But neither side does anything.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/imm...king-rcna53517

Migrant border crossings in fiscal year 2022 topped 2.76 million, breaking previous record

Some of them were sent back but still that's an unacceptable number of people trying to come here through a broken immigration system. We also are in need of more border patrols too, actual people to do the job.

https://www.congress.gov/bill/117th-...nate-bill/1358

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) shall establish at least four regional processing centers along the southern border in high-traffic Border Patrol sectors. These centers shall conduct processing activities such as criminal history checks, medical screenings, asylum interviews and credible fear determinations, and short-term detention of individuals.

https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tan...ration-policy/

Around eight-in-ten conservative Republicans (82%) say increased border security should be a very important goal for U.S. immigration policy; about half of moderates and liberals in the GOP (54%) say the same. Similarly, about six-in-ten conservative Republicans (58%) say increasing deportations of immigrants currently in the country illegally should be a very important goal, compared with about a third of moderate and liberal Republicans (34%).

Seven-in-ten conservative and moderate Democrats say increasing border security should be a very or somewhat important goal, compared with 44% of liberal Democrats. Conservative and moderate Democrats are also twice as likely as liberal Democrats (50% vs. 25%) to say increasing deportations should be an important goal.

Republicans are more in favor of fixing it but Democrats want it fixed too. They have different priorities and different ideas so nothing ever gets done to improve the mess we're in. A majority of us Democrats want something done but our party has been hijacked by the faaaaar left who waste their time obsessing over trivia. I don't hear much from the Republicans either, to be fair, except build a wall.

If either side would just DO something instead of only hating each other!

We wouldn't need to build facilities, if we didn't allow them to sneak through the border in the first place.

Trump tried to build the wall, but was blocked at every opportunity... both by old-money Conservative business leaders, and by literally everyone on the left who believed it was racist (even though "Hispanic" isn't a race, but never the less).

I have no problem with people immigrating to the United States. My mom is from Argentina, my dad is from the Netherlands. But it needs to be done properly. People in Central America are not living under an oppressive regime... they just live in countries that do not have a lot of economic opportunity. Most of them wouldn't even be coming to the United States if it wasn't for the fact that there's been a concerted effort by foreign governments to support mass illegal immigration into the United States. Most of them are provided money, even a pamphlet map to means of ingress through the border (see image). Their entire path, food and water is provided to them, along with bussing and transportation through most areas.

It's completely, completely insane... and this president is doing absolutely everything he possibly can to allow it. Explain that to me... why does Joe Biden want open borders? They are literally leaving border gates open, and are fighting every effort by Republicans to close the border.

Years ago when Hillary Clinton was the US Secretary of State, she did a tour of every South American nation giving speeches encouraging people to come to the US. She made a lot of promises about how illegal immigrants would be treated once they arrived here. I remember at the time, listening to some of her speeches. If you recall there was a time when families were sending their un-escorted children across the border, in the hope that they would serve as an anchor for the families to move up and re-join with their children. The only way that a family would ever send unescorted children was under that sort of promise that the children would be accepted with open arms.

We have had our government officials going down to South America making promises to those people.

Me, either. And I am related to some really opinionated off the wall types. All this stuff must be coming from Bots paid for by the Council for national policy.

I know for sure I’ve seen a few folks on here whom I suspect are paid to write a lot of this stuff. Luckily, the chief candidate among them seems to have dropped off of this forum at some point.

Neither one of them executed the pullout themselves. If you think we were going to have a clean withdrawal you're kidding yourself.

If Trump would have gone back on his deal and used a peace treaty/withdrawal as a bait tactic to draw out and bomb the Taliban as OP wanted, that is flirting with perfidy which is a war crime.
