Well that’s not really true. Having been born and raised in Chicago and suburbs, I can tell you the truth. When I was a teenager living in the suburbs there was no fear in me or my parents about my traveling on the metra alone and walking throughout the entire Chicago Loop, or with my younger sister along. We did it often. No people were “afraid” of the city.
That's why I said "most". It's great that you grew up around people who weren't afraid of the city, but lots of people are/were.

The change in recent years has been disastrous. A once beautiful city is now crime infested. It’s not a made-up story. It’s a fact.
City-Data's crime stats go from 2006 to 2019 for Chicago, and their "crime index" shows a general decline. Can you provide the statistics that show the crime rate surpassing 2008?
Chicago has been a [Democrat] and crime cesspool since the 1930s.
Chicago had a Republican mayor in the 30s (Big Bill Thompson) and IL had a Republican governor from 1975 (Big Jim Thompson) until George Ryan, the Republican who went to jail. His term ended in 2003. So whatever Chicago and Illinois is, Republicans had a hand in the making.
The most convenient way to twist any discussion is to label somebody a "racist".
Perhaps, but deal with the issue. It is Republican actions which have been termed racist. Sometimes a cigar is a cigar.
Or does racism no longer exist?
