Your taking it out of context as it was a response to another posters statement, the average person was not discussing inflation until this year and no one ever said it hasn't been a topic before especially in the 70's.
but the average person HAS BEEN talking about it for the last 4 POTUS admins...we were talking about inflation (either being high or low) during Clinton, Bush2, Obama, even during trumpo, and now under HIGH inflation during the senile pres.
the fact is what you and ms. reid said "that everyday Americans """never heard""" the word"....is INCORRECT

No what she said is ""MSNBC host Joy Reid said that the word "inflation" is "not part of the normal lexicon" for the way people talk" and until this year most people I know did not use the work inflation in regular conversations.
I never said that I or "everyday Americans" have never hear the word.
Who are these Americans who never heard of inflation??????????
Inflation is not like oophorectomy or transubstantiation....
JR needs an intro to American culture, language and nuance.
inflation was a word coined in 1838 and has been in use since
originates from the Latin inflare (to blow up or inflate) and was initially used in 1838 in the regard of an inflation of the curreny..... also used for lending and price inflation in the years after that, until 1874.

but it is in the normal lexicon of the way people talk.... every year we talk about the inflation level for cost of living raises like SS, retirements.... Obama even froze government employee pay rates because "there was no inflation".... the word IS part of regular conversations
You missed the first part where she said "she had only heard Journalists and Economists use the word" which is true until recently it was not part of everyday conversations .
It wasn't part of every day conversations because the last time inflation was this high was in the 80's. 30+ years ago.
I don't believe her premise that the average person doesn't know what inflation is. But let's assume it's true for the sake of argument. Her point is still garbage. Not trying to justify why we're having inflation. Or point to causes and solutions that don't paint the current administration in a negative light. No, just tell people they shouldn't really care about it because it wasn't a front row issue in your life until recently. Just bury your head in the sand.
Oh, you're being strangled and eaten by an Anaconda? Well come on, you never cared about that before. You didn't even know what an Anaconda was until someone told you. Fantastic, very helpful observation...
If she would have said something along the lines of people haven't been using the word as much in the past as they are now, she may have had some merit. People are using it now because it's so high.
Her somehow trying to make some kind of dig at Republicans is just sorta lame.
