You can mute or block accounts. You can even mute words so that you don't see any posts with that word.

A deactivation is a step you take yourself before deleting the account outright. Different from a suspension/ban.

The far left is really upset about this.
This makes me happy.

Default Best part of Musk takeover

Best part of new chief Twit Musk is that he won’t lecture us from some pedestal about free speech.

Musk won’t go to some Aspen international cyber security festival to tell us that censorship is bad.

This will be refreshing.

As mentioned you can mute anyone you want on there. And that makes it funny when some of the people who were muted by Elon said, "I thought you said Free Speech!!!!" and they started going crazy.

Muting is quite different from silencing or suspending an account. The Leftists on there just didn't get it.

I've used Twitter for many years but I mostly follow news outlets. It presents a handy aggregate of headlines from different sources I can scan quickly, no matter where I am, and then investigate further if I'm interested. Local news, market news, sports news, etc. I find it useful mostly for that.

You can block them. On each 'tweet', there are 3 dots in the upper right hand corner of the 'tweet'. Click on that, you get a menu. "Block @whatevertheycallthemselves" Done.

Deactivating and blocking/suspending are different things. Deactivations are user initiated.
