I think the bottom line is that both parties are generally running horrible candidates. The country is in the ditch. There's no credible path to get it out of it.

Diana Harshbarger, the Republican representative (at least in my district), had some sort of credible financial scandal during the last election cycle. She still won handily. Scandal did barely nothing to dent her vote share.

The Democrats here, being uncompetitive for generations, will run whomever steps up. When that happens, you get people who are just looking for exposure, for whatever reason. Most of them aren't trying to make a serious difference. No money is poured in to try and make them competitive - it is token opposition.

This district is 3:1 Republican "on the street", at least, and trending even more MAGA. The real election is in the Republican primary, and generally the winner of that is just whomever runs the most to the right.

Gone is the GOP of Bill First or Don Sundquist. What Democrats are still left in the state are far to the left of the last Democratic governor of Tennessee, Phil Bredesen.

All three of these men were reasonable men. Things could be talked through, and while folks may never come to an agreement, they did not come to blows.

Local politics are nothing more than good ole boy networks of connected families.

It's a hellscape for any serious thought or debate.

The FOX news coverage of this election is just as big of a joke as it was in 2020. They called the NH Senate race for Hassan with 40% of the vote in and a 30,000 vote margin.

Meanwhile, in Ohio with 80% of the vote counted, and Vance holding a 250,000 vote lead, FOX hasn't called it for Vance.

I'm not a hardcore partisan.

I can't see Biden winning in 2020 in GA, then things miraculously shifting while running a complete fool for a candidate. I could see a lot of Kemp/Warnock voters, but maybe I'm less of a stooge than the average voter.

NBC news calls Ohio for Vance. FOX still hasn't called it. SMH.

And it looks like the Dems keeping the House is within the realm of possibility...not saying it is going to happen...but many of these races should have been called...and they haven't.

Elaine Luria (D-VA), one of the members of the J6 Committee/Stalinist Show Trial has been defeated in Virginia. Fantastic.

If Kari Lake doesn't win Arizona, I have officially lost faith in this country. No reputable poll in the past month has shown crazy cat lady with any lead, notwithstanding she's arguably the worst candidate this cycle (well, maybe second after the Fetterwoman)
