I said it a while back that blocking student loan forgiveness was the death of the republicans. And it Sure was. Big time young voter turnout

Not sure what republicans were thinking so close to the midterms. Shows you how completely out of touch they are

If Republicans just win the House, then Biden will be a lame duck President for the rest of his term.

If you believe NYT it’s now close to 90% they win it. There simply isn’t gonna be enough movement in California and at this stage that was where Dems needed to do serious damage. It’ll probably be each side loses a couple and wins a couple others so it won’t move more than a seat or two in CA

This is why I don’t follow polls, even ones I agree with. “Red wave” some claimed didn’t happen. There was a surge, but not a wave. Some areas are so hardcore leftist that anyone with a D by their name will automatically win over someone with an R by their name. Republican voters most likely saw Dr Oz as a RINO with his personal celebrity connections being a leftist ball and chain holding back Republican voters from voting for him. I don’t know of any of the other republicans who lost to comment on those cases. Looks like republicans have the majority in the house but not enough for a super majority. This would give the Speaker of the House and control over various oversight committees back to Republicans. I predict their first order will be House investigations into Hunter Biden’s laptop and potential connections to Joe Biden receiving money from foreign agents through Hunter as well as an investigation into Fauci, Wuhan, pharmaceutical companies’ connection to Fauci & FDA, and possible gain of function research approved by Fauci. While I agree some of these investigations should be done I’ve no doubt their reasons will actually be for the next election 2 years from now.

Let's remember the context here. The GOP already outperformed House expectations in 2020. That limited the size of any House gains in 2020 as in today's hyperpolarized environment the maximum any party can get in the House is around 235-240 seats. Which the republicans should come close to getting.

Analysis.....

1) Wasn't the "big GOP wave" people thought.

2) This looked more like the winners just had better individual campaigns, regardless of the backers/endorsers.

3) High-profile Trump-backed candidates underperformed. Folk on Fox News were talking about "candidate quality" being a factor. (Oz, Herschel, Dixon, Mastriano, Zeldin. And Lake may not look like this star as people thought!)

4) Other than Oz excessively hammering Fetterman's health, which may have pissed off PA voters, what was his plan....?

5) Trump's "in-party" opponents (Kemp, DeSantis, Abbott) solidified their own standing, and may signal a GOP move away from Trump. The question is, will Trump accept that possibility? If not, will the GOP have to brace for a possible civil war, in Milwaukee, 2024?

6) "Election deniers" doing better in the House, which may put GOP over the top and make McCarthy speaker, as opposed to Senate and Governor.

7) This may be the end of Abrams and O'Rourke, on the public front. Abrams may be better-suited for behind the scenes political work, as she did with her voter registration strive after 2018, which delivered Georgia, and the Presidency, to Biden.

8) One interesting commentary: the GOP, accusing the Dems of focusing on "Trump, Trump, Trump," may have been guilty of doing the same thing, "Biden, Biden, Biden." Crime and the economy are legitimate concerns. But was there a plan to address those?

8) And with this "mixed bag," can we say that "democracy wins?"

Yes. Americans want divided government. Everybody goes home happy.

We get what we need.

New Yorkers voted for more stabbings, deadly punches, and pushes onto subway tracks.
